[email protected] ABSTRACT: Stratified charcoalified fragments of thalloid organisms with tripartite tissue construction have been isolated from the basal member of the Upper Silurian (upper Ludlow) Downton Castle Sandstone Formation, exposed near Ludlow, Shropshire, England and are considered to have had fungal affinity.
