Right fielder Brett Gardner had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Kruk Dome where the Hart St. Hogs beat the Yorktown Admirals by the score of 4 to 2. Hart St. erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning with 3 runs on 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Joe Mauer initiated the scoring spurt when he slapped a one-base . stepped up next and he drew a walk. Omar Infante then drew a walk to load the bases. Mike Napoli was up next and he hit a deep fly. Gardner came to the plate and lashed a . Hart St. rapped out 8 hits for the night. The win went to (1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Trevor Rosenthal(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 1 hit and 2 walks.

In a two run game the Hart St. Hogs got by the Yorktown Admirals by the score of 6 to 4. In the bottom of the 3rd inning Hart St. scored 5 runs when they came up with 6 base hits. They would hold up as the winning runs. Koji Uehara was great in relief and recorded his 2nd save. Jim Henderson got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 1/3 innings and allowing no runs. The losing was Zach McAllister(0-1). He was knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in 2 innings.

Jayson Werth went deep and had 3 RBI as the Hart St. Hogs outscored the Yorktown Admirals 5 to 1. Hart St. had 3 runs cross the plate in the top of the 6th inning when they had 3 base hits. The big moment was provided by Werth who quieted the crowd when he smacked a three-run homer. Hart St. had 10 hits for the game and Yorktown had 4. Jered Weaver picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 7 and 1/3 innings. Ivan Nova(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 2 runs and 4 hits in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Brandon Phillips had 4 hits as the Yorktown Admirals beat the Hart St. Hogs by a score of 4 to 3. Matt Cain(1-0) earned his pay with a solid performance for Yorktown. He was reached for 7 hits and no walks in 7 innings. Hart St. threatened in the 9th but Yorktown was able to put down the rally. Cain got help from Trevor Rosenthal who was credited with his 1st save. Tony Watson(0-1) was given the loss in relief. Jeff Merklin was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.

Brandon Phillips went yard and had 2 RBI at C.W. Nimitz Mem Park as the Yorktown Admirals staged a comeback win over the Hart St. Hogs by the count of 4 to 2. Yorktown scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs on 3 base hits. Ian Desmond led off the inning for Yorktown when he stroked a base-hit. Eric Hosmer was next and he doubled. Phillips then popped a two-run clout over the fence. Hart St. was out-hit by Yorktown, 11 hits to 4. Alfredo Simon(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Sergio Romo(1-1) ended up with the loss in relief. 'What a win!', Simon said. 'These are the kind of games that stand out in your mind at the end of a season.'

Jeanmar Gomez had a strong outing and Jacoby Ellsbury had 2 base hits as the Hart St. Hogs bested the Yorktown Admirals 3 to 1 at Kruk Dome. Hart St. came up with 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Yorktown went down quietly in the 9th. Koji Uehara(1-1) got the win allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Uehara got help from Luke Gregerson who was credited with his 1st save. Zach McAllister(0-2) absorbed the loss.

Congrats to Merk for a great season. He managed wonderfully in the series. It was a dog fight. Series MVP goes to Jason Werth who hit two key HRs and knocked in 6 runs. Uehara was big too pitching 6 shutout innings with 10 K’s, winning game 6 and saving game 2. The Hogs are excited to be going to the for the seventh time in franchise history. The Hogs are 3-3 previously, with their last appearance in 2006. Whatever happens, it’s been a great year for the Hogs. The 107 regular season wins marked the 11 th time in the 22 year franchise history that the Hogs have won 100 games. I figure Bill and I will play FTF, so I’m looking forward to rolling the dice again (first time this year)…..I’ll be digging around for my lucky green 20 sided dice. LOL
