Dear Festival Goers: The mission of the Columbus Folk Music Society is to promote the appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of folk music, song, dance, storytelling and other folk arts. The annual Central Ohio Folk Festival is one way we accomplish this mission. Having outgrown its old location, the festival moved to Highbanks Metro Park in 2018 where it continues to expand. All activities are free, with the exception of workshops, Saturday evening concert and Cigar Box Guitar making activity. We invite you to come and participate in the many family-friendly events! Whether an individual, family, musician, or a just a lover of the folk arts, we know you’ll enjoy the many activities found at the festival. The Folk Ramblers (Opening Sing-Along) Bill Cohen (guitar & vocals) and Carl Yaffey (Columbus, OH) (banjo & vocals) perform classic folk songs in honor of the 100th birthday of folk icon Pete Seeger. Folkramblers.carl-yaffey.com 11 am Saturday Storytellers of Central Ohio (Columbus, OH) The Storytellers of Central Ohio (SOCO) are a dynamic group of men and women of all ages who believe in the power, the magic, and the wonder of storytelling in the oral tradition. Founded in 1990 to promote the art of storytelling, and to foster the growth and development of storytellers, SOCO now plays an integral part in the world-wide renaissance of storytelling. Listen to some of them on the main stage! www.socotales.org Noon Saturday Last Acre (Athens, IL) Last Acre is Mark & Molly Mathewson, a father/daughter Americana duo, with blood-kin harmonies and dry, tongue- in-cheek repartee. The duo has performed across the Midwest, headlining their own shows and opening for acts such as Robbie Fulks, Tim Grimm, & Antje Duvekot. Mark is a winner of the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest (Merlefest) and has songs recorded by bluegrass artists, including 2017 Grammy nominee Blue Highway, The Lonesome River Band, as well as others.
