(2) The protection period for the Rugby World Cup 2011 is de­ clared to start on 11 September 2008 and end on 21 November 2011. 5 Declaration of major event emblems and words (1) The emblems set out in Schedule 1 are declared to be major event emblems for the protection period of the Rugby World Cup 2011. Explanatory note This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect. The Rugby World Cup 2011 was declared to be a major event for the purposes of the Major Events Management Act 2007 by the Major Events Management (Rugby World Cup 2011) Order 2007. This order, which comes into force on 11 September 2008,— • declares the protection period for the Rugby World Cup 2011; and • declares specified emblems to be major event emblems for the protection period of the Rugby World Cup 2011; and • declares specified words to be major event words for the pro­ tection period of the Rugby World Cup 2011. Under subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Major Events Management Act 2007, certain protections are provided for major event emblems and major event words during the protection period of the relevant major event. Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989. Date of notification in Gazette: 14 August 2008.     Model Music Curriculum: Key Stages 1 to 3 Non-statutory guidance for the national curriculum in England March 2021 Foreword If it hadn’t been for the classical music played before assemblies at my primary school or the years spent in school and church choirs, I doubt that the joy I experience listening to a wide variety of music would have gone much beyond my favourite songs in the UK Top 40. I would have heard the wonderful melodies of Carole King, Elton John and Lennon & McCartney, but would have missed out on the beauty of Handel, Beethoven and Bach, the dexterity of Scott Joplin, the haunting melody of Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio in G, evocations of America by Dvořák and Gershwin and the tingling mysticism of Allegri’s Miserere. The Model Music Curriculum is designed to introduce the next generation to a broad repertoire of music from the Western Classical tradition, and to the best popular music and music from around the world. This curriculum is built from the experience of schools that already teach a demanding and rich music curriculum, produced by an expert writing team led by ABRSM and informed by a panel of experts – great teachers and musicians alike – and chaired by Veronica Wadley. I would like to thank all involved in producing and contributing to this important resource. It is designed to assist rather than to prescribe, providing a benchmark to help teachers, school leaders and curriculum designers make sure every music lesson is of the highest quality. In setting out a clearly sequenced and ambitious approach to music teaching, this curriculum provides a roadmap to introduce pupils to the delights and disciplines of music, helping them to appreciate and understand the works of the musical giants of the past, while also equipping them with the technical skills and creativity to compose and perform.

Rugby is more than just a game and as part of the Impact Beyond programme more than £2m was pledged in a fantastic show of solidarity from the global rugby family to support ChildFund Pass It Back, the principal Rugby World Cup 2019 charity partner. Funds raised are transforming the lives of over 25,000 vulnerable children in disadvantaged communities across Asia through an integrated life skills and rugby curriculum.
