Team Rector, King’s Lynn St. Margaret with Saint Nicholas (King’s Lynn Minster)

Dear colleague,

Thank you for your interest in this post, as together we seek to discern who God may be calling to serve as the next Team Rector in the St. Margaret with St. Nicholas benefice (Kings Lynn Minster). These notes are intended to supplement the information given in the Profile, adding a slightly wider perspective with some further information.

The and this ministry This is a senior incumbency of one of two Minster Churches in the diocese. Kings Lynn Minster is part of the Greater Churches network and the incumbent will become an Honorary Canonry to Norwich . We would hope to see links with the Cathedral grow and flourish.

We are seeking a person who will develop the role of the Minster both in the growing town of Kings Lynn and also in the deanery so that it looks outwards and offers the love of Christ to its community.

Whilst working with the tradition of the , the new Rector must be mission minded, seeking to grow the congregation in prayerfulness and discipleship, and looking to exploit the outreach potential.

The Minster fulfils a civic role as well as a community one, so a new priest must be able to engage with all sections of the community.

With God all things are possible and we are seeking someone who is both prayerful and energetic, prepared to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. This is not a role for the vanity conscious or those seeking grandeur! It would, though, give someone good experience of senior incumbency leadership in a Diocese that is moving forward into a new with a still relatively new Diocesan Bishop.

We would love to hear from you if you feel that God might be calling you to this new role.

Diocese and Deanery Under the leadership of the , the Rt Revd , a vision is emerging for the Diocese – Transformed by Christ: Prayerfully, Pastorally and Prophetically. Work is currently underway on the strategies that will help us live out and deliver this vision.

The benefice of St Margaret with St. Nicholas is within the Archdeaconry of Lynn, and so under the care of the , (currently vacant) and myself. The benefice is in the Lynn Deanery whose Rural Dean is the Rev’d Canon James Nash who is the incumbent of The Church in the Woottons benefice. There are 7 benefices in the deanery with 19 licensed clergy, 15 clergy with PtO, 4 Licensed Lay Ministers (Readers) and 3 Authorised Worship Assistants.

Attendance at Deanery Synod and Chapter is an expectation, and all diocesan clergy are encouraged to give some part of their time and energies to the wider life of the Diocese.
