In order to channelize the efforts of the institution towards the academic

excellence and good governance, the IQAC prepared the plan of action for the

year 2006-07 in the month of April 2006. This action plan was prepared by

IQAC after careful processing of the outcome of the meetings of the faculty and

non-teaching staff.

A) Teaching Learning and Evaluation

Outcome achieved in the year 2006-07

A) Teaching Learning and Evaluation

PART - B

1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:

Mission:-

The College has adopted the mission of making the students good citizens with good values dedicated to eradicate „durit „i. e. evil tendencies in the society

Goals:-

In order to realize the mission, the college has set specific goals such as achieving overall personality development of the students, acting as a centre for social, cultural and intellectual development of the present as well as ex- students, updating teaching-learning–evaluation process, arranging curricular and extra-curricular activities enabling the students to be in tune with the changing academic and social conditions.

Every activity in the college has been organized keeping in view the mission and goals.

A) It is our mission to provide access to higher education to rural students and particularly to the deprived section of the society, particularly female and socially and economically backward classes. During this year students from 35 villages around the Kagal town admitted to the college. The percentage of students coming from these particular sections has been increasing every year. The student admissions for last four years is as below

The Percentage of Female students to the total no of students was 43% and that of the students from disadvantaged classes – SC/ST & OBC was 23.37%.

B) For creating awareness about social issues among the students following activities are undertaken by Department of NSS, NCC, Vivek Vahini and different department of the college-

i. Celebrated World Population Day – 11th July by arranging elocution competition and competition slogan formation on 19th July 2006.

ii. Birth anniversary of Rajarshri Shahu Maharaj, a social reformer was celebrated on 26th July, 2006 by organizing a guest lecture.

iii. Hiroshima Day – World Peace Day, observed by arranging a slide show explaining effects of atomic explosion on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945

iv. NSS organized lectures by different experts on the topics – „Right to Information‟, Importance of „Gramsabha‟, „Aids Awarness‟, and „Environment Conservation‟.

C) To achieve all round personality development of the students following activities were organized

i. Participation of students in Shivaji University Youth Festival being held at Rajarshi Shahu Mahavidyalaya, Rukadi.

ii. Participation of students in Competition of Different Cultural Activities held at college level like Antakshari, Fancy Dress Competition, Singing and Dance Competition etc.

iii. Participation of Sports Students in Annual sports meet held by the University at Dr. D.Y. Patil Engineering College, Kolhapur, and Ashwamedh competition held at Jalgaon.

Participation of Sports students in different sports activities at District, State and National Level.

iv. Group Discussions and Debate arranged by Vivek Vahini and NSS throughout the year gives an opportunity to exhibit and form opinions on different subjects.

v. During Special Camping Programme from 2nd Dec to 11th Dec. 2006 organised by NSS in the adopted village Siddhanerli along with Shramdan, group discussion and debate on the subjects such as Right to Information Act, Aids-A Menace to the society, Gramsabha- A Powerful weapon in democracy etc. provides opportunity to the students to think and make opinion on different current problems.

vi. Publication of two editions of forty-two pages Wall Papers of Yashodhan during the year, in which Poems, Articles, stories were published. It provides an opportunity to the students to express their views and reactions to the important topics and current events also helps readers to keep them update on current topics.

vii. 5th Sept.- Teachers Day-celebration by the students themselves gives them an opportunity to play the Teachers role and understand the importance of teacher – student relationship.

viii. Educational Tours organized by different departments in the college provide the students an opportunity to enrich their experience and knowledge about socio-economic life.

ix. Participation of students in Elocution, Essay and debate competitions organized by D.R. Mane Mahavidyalaya, Kagal and K.I.T. College, Kolhapur and at Gargoti.

x. Activities of the Commerce & Management Association – Visit to Industrial Unit – Gokul Milk Dairy (Zilla Dudh Sangh), Gokul Shirgaon on 29th Sept., 2006.

D) To create work culture and dignity of labour amongst the students following activities were conducted-

i. Ten days NSS special camp during 2nd Dec to 11th Dec. 2006 at village Siddhanelri Tal-Kagal

ii. One day camps at adopted village Siddhanerli.

iii. Shramadan Programmes at college campus.

3. Innovations in curricular design and transaction -

The University formulates the curricula. The college has nothing to interfere with it. Therefore a great care is taken to see that the college mission and goals are reflected in the general functioning of the college and the teaching-learning process. While going through the curricula during the class-room, the faculty attempts to make it more practical and relevant to the real life conditions. The faculty sees to it that not only theoretical knowledge is imparted through lectures but also it leads to the total personality development of the students.

The college looks upon the curricular as a means to develop social, political and cultural awareness among the students.

One of our faculty members is representing the Boards of Studies in English of the Shivaji University, Kolhapur. At the time of framing new syllabus he had deliberations with others concerned. The list of college faculty representing University Bodies is as follows –

In the college, the following Associations have been formed under the concerned departments

These Associations undertake various activities throughout the year to bridge the gap between the purely academic activities and practical life around. The draft curriculum of any subject is sent to the colleges by the University for Providing Suggestions if any. The draft curriculum received from the University is placed for discussion in the department of concerned subject.

The curricula of various subjects are designed by the Boards of studies in the particular subjects in the Shivaji University. For the proper understanding of the objectives behind the curriculum and for the smooth implementation of the same the workshops of different subjects are organized by different colleges in association with the university. Our faculty members participate in such workshops.

encourage the people to donate Ganapati idol and Nirmalya in order to prevent water pollution”. In this programme 250 Ganapati idols were donated and nearly one Trolley of Nirmalaya was collected and disposed properly.

ii) Development of Leadership qualities among the students through different activities is the main objectives of NSS. 200 students participated in NSS Programmes. „Shramdan‟ and „Lectures on various topics‟ were organized in the adopted village Siddhanerli. During the special camp period NSS students participated in campaign for „Hagandarimukta‟ khede and 52 pits were digged for construction of Toilets.

iii) During the special camp period „Shramdan‟ for cleaning of campus of rural health center, leveling of school play ground, cleaning of roads and drainage was undertaken.

21. Improvement in the Library Services:-

Library is the heart of educational institution. It plays very important role in teaching and learning environment. The quality of library depends upon the qualitative books. So the library lays more emphasis on purchasing different reference books along with the text books on different subjects.

Budgeting and fund allocation :-

The library budget for books and journals depends on the UGC grants on development and the library fees received from the students (at the rate of Rs.50/- per student). For the academic year 2006-07, the regular library budget was Rs.38,582/- and the UGC grants received were worth Rs. 2,01,381 .Thus the total budget for the year was Rs.2,39,963/.

Library Services :-

The library and Information services of higher institutions play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of academic and research environments. The library is the pillar of support for the entire range of academic activities in an educational

campus. In today's high-tech learning environment, the library as a 'Learning Resource' is taking up increasingly more academic space and time in the life of a learner. Following services are rendered by the library -

Book Bank Scheme

Book Bank Scheme is being implemented by the library to prospective and economically backward students. Many students are seeking the advantage of this scheme. Under this scheme, text books are issued to the students for a year. Every year, increasing response is being received from the students.

In the year 2006-07, 59 students of the Senior College and 168 students of the Junior college were the beneficiaries of this scheme.

Book Bank for Meritorious Students

The Scholar students which are coming from meritorious committee are provided extra scholar cards on the reference book.

In the year 2006-07, 46 scholar students, had taken the advantage of the above scheme.

Other Membership

The college is situated in a rural area. Library facilities are extended also to the general public of the surrounding locality as well as to the alumni of the college pursuing their higher studies. The people of the locality are issued books against deposit on a nominal service charge.

Other membership is executed by the library to the alumni, the school- teachers and other needful persons such as B.Ed., D.Ed. YCMOU-teachers, and

Library for Competitive Exams

The collage has established a separate cell of competitive examinations, with the objective of all round personality development of the students. Biographies and Autobiographies

To create the confidence among students to face the challenges in the modern world and to follow the path of the successful personalities, we have a large number of books and other reading material including journals, periodicals, and compact disks. From two, years we are issuing the above books to the students to uplift their all round personality.

The library preserves photo Albums of all college activities for the past 23 years. It has archival value and the library has a collection of these photographs.

Ex-students and other Membership (2006-07)

It is the firm conviction of the Library that the responsibility of the Library does not terminate with the termination of the academic tenure of the students. So the Library extends its services to the ex-students too. Similarly the users from other start of life such as Doctors, Teachers, Parents & other may have access to the Library. The Library provides this facility free of cost.

The Committee organized the following activities August 9, 2006 Ranganathan Day was celebrated by worshipping and garlanding his image. December 16, 2006 A Lecture on ''How to write a book Review'' was delivered by Prof. A. S. Jarag and Prof. Dr. B.N. Turambekar before aspirant students for their training which was followed by conduct of Competition of Book Review. Twelve Contestants participated the event aimed at boosting the reading habits and encouraging the writing skill. Ms. Manisha Balaso Patil of B. A. Part II was awarded with the Prize. The competition was conducted like the

examination. Dr. Smt. N. G. Joshi and Prof. Smt. H.A. Maldar assessed the Reviews. December 27, 2006 Mr. Abhijit Maruti Patil-B.A.III was selected as The Best Reader of the Year at the meeting of the committee on Dec., 27, 2006. They were also awarded with books worth Rs. 101 each. The Award Is Instituted for encouraging reading habits among students.

Construction of Rooms- no 3 (ground) and 3 (Ist floor) under the Young College Scheme of UGC was completed with the help of UGC grants of Rs. 6,93,395 and Rs. 8,00,000/- from the management of the college.

Computer and Internet access is available to teachers and students of the college. This facility is provided through U.G.C. –NRC scheme in a college and expert‟s service is made available.

Financial Aid to the poor and deserving students is provided by the college through the „Students Aid Fund‟. The „Students Aid Fund Committee‟ identifies the needy students through collecting the applications from the concerned students. During the year 2006-07 an amount of Rs. 4920 (Four

i) First Meeting of the Alumni Association was held on 15th July., 2006 and a New Working committee was formed and Annual Plan for conducing different activities was prepared ii) On 21st July 2006 Alumni Shri. Veerkumar Patil and Smt. Vandana Kshirsagar delivered a lectuer for B.A.III students on communication skills. iii) On 1st Dec.,2006 Alumni Association arranged a felicitation of newly elected Councilors (who are also Alumni of the college) of Kagal Municipal Corporation

i) In the adopted village- Siddhanerli the awareness campaign for Gramswachata Abhiyaan was organize in which importance of Toilets was highlighted and encouraged the villagers to construct the Toilets. NSS students helped to construct 40 Toilets during special camp. ii) NSS & NCC Volunteers participated in Puls Polio Abhiyaan in Kagal City.
