Croeso i’n degfed o’n Wythnosau Celf Ynys Môn sydd bellach wedi sefydlu’u hunain fel digwyddiadau pwysig yng nghalendr yr ynys.
Yn ystod yr wythnosau Stiwdios Agored ac Orielau, 23 Mawrth - 7 Ebrill 2013, bydd peintwyr, cerflunwyr, ffotograffwyr, gwneuthurwyr ffilmiau, arlunwyr print, artistiaid gosodiadau a gweithwyr crefft yn agor eu stiwdios i ymwelwyr. Bydd digonedd o ddewis ar eich cyfer – yn gardiau a phrintiau a gweithiau celf gwreiddiol i’w prynu, ac yn arddangosiadau o artistiaid ar waith ac arddangosfeydd o gelfyddyd gyfoes i’w gweld. Mae lleoliadau’n cynnwys stiwdios, capeli, ysguboriau, siediau, orielau a chartrefi’r artistiaid. Bydd gennych gyfle i gyfarfod a siarad gyda’r artist, yn aml dros baned o de, a chael cipolwg unigryw o’r broses artistig.

Welcome to our tenth Anglesey Arts Weeks, now firmly established in the Anglesey calendar
During the Open Studios and Galleries Weeks, 23 March - 7 April 2013, painters, sculptors, photographers, film makers, printmakers, installation artists and craftworkers open their studios to visitors. You may find anything from cards, prints and original works of art to buy; see anything from works in progress to exhibitions of contemporary art. Venues include studios, chapels, barns, sheds, galleries and artists’ homes. You have the chance to meet and talk with the artist, often over a cup of tea, and gain a unique glimpse of the artistic process.

This will help give a feel for the environment in which our artists work and may draw inspiration from.
We have divided our studios into Clusters to help artists work together in their locality, and also to make it possible to visit a number of studios in a day. We will provide further details of the studios being visited nearer the time, but for the moment these are the basic details of the tours. We hope this will be a great day for no charge but please, as places are limited, do take up your place or let us know if you are unable to attend. All coaches will return to their 10 starting locations at the end of the tour. Please bring a packed lunch.

Ten years have passed since the opening of the Oriel Glyn Davies Gallery, and in 2012 Glyn published his fourth and largest book, “Welsh Light”, a fitting tribute to a decade of landscape print sales. Copies of all his books and prints are available at the gallery and browsers are welcome.

Rydw i’n gweithio mewn dyfrlliw, a hefyd mewn acrylig ac LAURIE KITCHEN olewau ar gynfas. Fy nod ydi cynhyrchu delweddaeth lachar, optimistaidd ac weithiau ddigrif. Drwy fy mod i wedi hyfforddi a gweithio fel dylunydd graffig mae arddull graffig pendant a chadarn i’m gwaith ac mae defnydd cryf o liw a gwead yn bresennol yn y rhan fwyaf o’m gwaith.
I work in watercolour, and also in acrylic and oils on canvas. My aim is to produce bright optimistic and sometimes humorous imagery. Given that I trained and worked as a graphic designer my work has a definite bold graphic style and a strong use of colour and texture is present in most of my work.

I am a jewellery designer/maker, working with ceramics, beads, silver, sea glass, and gold. My studio is attached to my gallery space where I showcase not only my own work, but also jewellery made by many other local jewelers based in Anglesey and North Wales.

Professional artist, designer and college lecturer since 1962. Worked in Japan in the mid 1960s. Senior lecturer at Central Saint Martin’s College until 2005. On show in easily accessed garden studio: prints, sculptures, and sketchbooks.

Georgina is well known for her large scale flower paintings, landscapes, and vibrant abstracts. As well as her career as a textile designer and painter she has taught in many universities and colleges. She exhibits internationally and her work is in many private and public collections.

I make contemporary country earthenware using local clay and a wood filled kiln. My domestic and sculptural vessels are decorated with marks derived from elements of Anglesey landscapes. The glazes I use were traditionally used by the potters of Buckley and other country potteries.

My attitude towards my work has become more sensitive to what I am doing and why I am doing it. As a consequence, I utilise locally sourced clays, minerals, oxides and wood ash in my slips and glazes. Salt glaze seems to emphasise and complement the somewhat unpredictable nature of these ‘as dug’ materials.

A professional artist and experienced art tutor, Christine’s work has been published, exhibited widely, and features in collections in the UK and abroad. Exploring evocative dynamics of pattern, colour, and the interaction of textures and shapes with the play of light are currently leading to more abstract experimentation beyond realism in landscape.

My paintings show natural shapes and structures created by the texture of walled fields, ancient rock formations, seascapes of dramatic cliffs and soft dunes. The changing atmosphere and purity of light are a constant challenge.

JUNE HUGHES Daw fy ysbrydolaeth o liw yn hytrach nag o’r gwrthrych. Rwyf yn paentio, gan ddefnyddio cyfryngau cymysg, yn gwneud gemwaith mwclis ac yn gweithio gyda phaent, gwydr dichroic, mosaic, ffabrig sidan, c ˆwyr (ymlosgol), tywod, a polystyrene. Rwyf yn mwynhau arbrofi ac ar hyn o bryd rwyf yn gweithio ar ddarluniau am droell fwclis.
My inspiration comes from colour rather than subject. I paint, using mixed media, make beaded jewellery, and work with paint, dichroic glass, mosaic, silk fabric, wax (encaustic), sand, and polystyrene. I enjoy experimenting and at present I am working on designs for a bead loom.

MARTIN McCALL Credaf mewn darlunio a phaentio o astudiaethau llyfr brasluniau ‘yn y fan a’r lle’ heb ddefnyddio cymorthyddion ffotograffaidd. Yn fy mhrofiad i, yr unig ffordd o ymrwymo testun i bapur neu gynfas gyda rhywfaint o deimlad o awyrgylch, symudiad a golau cyfnewidiol yw trwy fod yn bresennol yno’n cymryd amser i amsugno a mwynhau’r pwnc.
I believe in drawing and painting from ‘on the spot’ sketchbook studies without the use of photographic aids. Committing a subject to paper or canvas with some sense of atmosphere, movement, and changing light, in my experience can only be achieved by being present at the scene taking time to absorb and enjoy the subject.

My new paintings are executed in a figurative style and my primary themes are infancy, race and human identity. After several years in the Middle East I am back again in North Wales, so an international perspective and challenging experiences combined with local elements inform my current direction.

Annie Rosewarne and Angela Thompson design and make a variety of beautiful well-crafted textiles goods, swapping resources to reduce and reuse materials. Annie’s bags, purses, jewellery bags and spectacle cases are colour co- ordinated and lined. Angela’s work includes textile brooches, cards, embellished Victorian gift cones, wall hangings and collages.

The underlying theme of my work is rhythms of the natural world. I use collage, inks and drawing to express the essence of things present and the layers of the past. The abstracted aspects of the landscape I then redefine into glyphs and totems of place.
