POSITION: Assistant City Manager

The City of Richland Hills, (pop. 8,000) is seeking an Assistant City Manager dedicated to providing highly technical and responsible assistance and support to achieve the goals and objectives of the . Duties include managing various city departments and personnel, acting on behalf of the City Manager when appropriate, and providing customer service to citizens. The ideal candidate must be ethical and trustworthy, interested in serving the public and working as part of a team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelors Degree; Master’s Degree in or related field is preferred. In addition, this position requires a minimum of two years experience in municipal government administration. The successful candidate must demonstrate intrinsic motivation, high ethical and moral standards, and excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking. In addition, the successful candidate must competently act as meeting facilitator, have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with all departments, diverse citizen groups, and the development community, and provide effective leadership building trust and teamwork. The candidate must be able to maintain mental capacity that permits making sound judgments regarding work, maintain a flexible schedule requiring several evening and/or weekend meetings or functions per month, and clear a post-offer physical, drug test, and criminal background check.

COMPENSATION: Salary will depend on qualifications. Additional benefits include: TMRS - 7% match 2 to 1; Medical, life insurance and long-term disability at no cost to employees; in addition the city provides optional benefits such as: dental, 457 deferred compensation, flexible spending; and provides vacation and sick leave, and 11 paid holidays.
