ACC Tournament Notes: From 1965 to 1982, the conference champion was determined solely on the basis of a post-season tournament with points awarded based on individual play. • From 1983 to 1985, the conference champion was based on points awarded for both regular-season and tournament play. The regular season results accounted for approximately 40 percent of the total and the tournament the remaining 60 percent. • From 1986 to 1989, the conference champion was determined by a three-day single-elimination dual match tournament with a playback to determine places one through eight. • Since 1990, the conference champion has been determined by a single-elimination dual match tournament with no playback. • Since 1994, the tournament implemented the format of playing three doubles matches of pro-set length with the team winning two of the matches receiving one point for the team, followed by six singles played for one point each. The first team to reach four team points wins the match. www.ramblinwreck.com 23 GEORGIA TECH IN THE NCAA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Tech’s NCAA Team Results (Total Appearances: 11; Overall Record: 6-11) 1988 1997 1999 Michigan 5, Georgia Tech 4 TCU 4, Georgia Tech 1 Georgia Tech 4, Boise State 1 May 21 • Athens, Ga. • NCAA Second Round May 21 • South Bend, Ind. • May 14, 1999 • Palo Alto, Calif. • (Tech received a 1st-round bye into the field of 16) NCAA Championship 1st Round NCAA Region 1st Round Singles Doubles (Texas Christian wins the point) Doubles (Georgia Tech wins the point) 1.
