Andrew Phillips / Seconded: Cr. Clare Le Serve That the minutes of the Ordinary Meeting held on Wednesday, 17 February 2016 be confirmed. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY Page 6 Ordinary Meeting - 16 March 2016 Bass Coast Shire Council D Public Question Time D.1 Kevin Griffin, Wonthaggi - Long Term Financial Plan and Rate Capping Agenda item H.11 on page 93 points out that other threads or common points of discussion captured across the community consultation included that Council should reduce staff salaries. Councillors may perhaps recall the media release issued last year by the Minister which cautioned local Councils against using the Fair Go rate cap as an excuse to cut vital staff and services, while they continue to waste money on excessive executive pay and Councillor spending. At the end of that media release, the Minister was also quoted as saying that “Councils need to put a stop to over-the-top executive pay rises and needless waste”. Considering the feedback received from our community together with the Minister’s comments, will Council now advise the community as to how it intends to put a stop to over the top executive pay rises and excessive executive pay. Cr Crugnale responded that the report Council is considering tonight relates to a decision on whether or not Council is going to seek a variation to the rate cap. As indicated in the report Council will consider all feedback
