WITHIN TEMPTATION the Unforgiving (Symphonic Metal) WITHIN TEMPTATION The unforgiving (Symphonic Metal) Année de sortie : 2011 Nombre de pistes : 12 Durée : 54' Support : CD promo Provenance : Reçu du label Pour commencer cette chronique du nouvel et attendu album de WITHIN TEMPTATION, The Unforgiving, je vais vous livrer ma réflexion en explication du titre que j'ai choisi. WITHIN TEMPTATION, avec ce 5ième album studio est entré dans sa phase musicale numéro 3, phase cohérente tant l'approche musicale a évolué depuis 1996 ! Pour moi, il y a eu la phase 1, avec les deux premiers albums (Enter 1996 et Mother Earth 2000), la deuxième avec The Silence Force 2004 et The Heart Of Everything 2007. Voici la phase trois, annoncée par l'excellente ballade Utopia, présente sur le live An Acoustic Night At The Theatre de 2009 et le single Faster de cet album ! Et pour la chronique de l'enregistrement public et acoustique, je concluais le 24/10/2009 : Bon allez, vivement le nouvel album que j'espère pas trop "commercial" et bien métal ! Eh bien, il faut reconnaître à ce The Unforgiving un côté commercial indéniable et un métal très tourné vers la pop symphonique !!! Je range cet album aux côtés des THE RASMUS, RENEGADE FIVE ou encore RYDELL AND QUICK !!! Cet album manque un peu de nerfs, conséquence de guitares un peu aseptisées, quelques peu noyées dans des arrangements symphoniques subtils et omniprésents. La surprise vient de la présence de quelques soli de guitares, notamment sur Shot In The Dark, A Demon's Fate, Lost. Il n'empêche qu'avec d'excellentes lignes de chant, des refrains accrocheurs (Faster, Sinead, Murder entre autres), une production parfaite et énorme, cet album ne laisse pas indifférent et devrait conquérir le coeur des fans depuis la phase 2, ceux de la phase 1 auront, je pense, sans ouverture d'esprit jeté l'éponge ! Les titres un peu plus musclés (toute proportion gardé !!!) et excellents au demeurant, In The Middle Of The Night ou encore Iron redonnent un peu de tonus à cet album, car 3 ballades sur 11 titres (le premier est une introduction parlée) viennent en plus agrémenter The Unforgiving ! Et là où le Utopia cité plus haut tutoyait pour moi le sublime, les Fire And Ice et Stairway To The Skies sont un léger ton en dessous, Lost étant bien plus sensitive à mon ouïe... Bref, tout cela sera une fois encore affaire de goût ! J'aime la pop métal, le symphonique et cet album fera office d'une des belles réalisations dans ce style en cette année 2011 d'un groupe qui de toute façon marque l'histoire de notre musique adulée, devenue un peu plus acidulée... Je vous rappelle que l'album est basé sur une série de "comics" écrites par Steven O' COONELL, le graphisme des personnages est confié à Romano MOLENAAR. En tout cas, The Unforgiving prouve une fois encore le talent de cette formation batave !     Album Reviews I’ve written over 150 album reviews as a volunteer for CHIRPRadio.org. Here are some examples, in alphabetical order: Caetano Veloso Caetano Veloso (A Little More Blue) Polygram / 1971 Brazilian Caetano Veloso’s third self-titled album was recorded in England while in exile after being branded ‘subversive’ by the Brazilian government. Under colorful plumes of psychedelic folk, these songs are cryptic stories of an outsider and traveller, recalling both the wonder of new lands and the oppressiveness of the old. The whole album is recommended, but gems include the autobiographical “A Little More Blue” with it’s Brazilian jazz acoustic guitar, the airy flute and warm chorus of “London, London” and the somber Baroque folk of “In the Hot Sun of a Christmas Day” tells the story of tragedy told with jazzy baroque undertones of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” The Clash London Calling Epic / 1979 London Calling, considered one of the greatest rock & roll albums ever recorded, is far from a straightforward: punk, reggae, ska, R&B and rockabilly all have tickets to this show of force that’s both pop and revolutionary. The title track opens with a blistering rallying cry of ska guitar and apocalypse. The post-disco “Clampdown” is a template for the next decade, a perfect mix of gloss and message. “The Guns of Brixton” is reggae-punk in that order, with rocksteady riffs and rock drums creating an intense portrait of defiance. “Train in Vain” is a harmonica puffing, Top 40 gem that stands at the crossroads of punk and rock n’ roll.

The third European Track Pack, which includes the hit song “Break It Out” by Italian pop punk band Vanilla Sky and “In the Shadows” by one of Finland’s most successful bands, The Rasmus, will also contain “Cʹest Comme Ça” the top single from French pop rock duo Les Rita Mitsouko’s 1986 album The No Comprendo. As a follow‐up to the third European Track Pack, rockers from the Netherlands, Germany and Spain will also be contributing to Guitar Hero World Tour’s increasing catalog of downloadable content.
