MEXICO’S BEST MUSICIANS MERGE ON SAN MANUEL STAGE Vargas de Tecalitlan and Bring World Class Talent and Music to the I.E.

San Manuel Indian Nation, Calif. – January 27, 2012 – Thursday, March 29, 2012, San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino welcomes the “World’s Best Mariachi” group since the 1950s, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan and Mexican music sensation Nydia Rojas. Tickets are on sale today and available at Ticketmaster.com and the San Manuel Box Office for $25 and $35.

The first incarnation of the group Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan began in 1898 as a quartet and over the decades the ensemble would become one of the most important in Mexican music history. For five generations, Mariachi Vargas has appeared in more than 200 films and made numerous recordings. The group acquired national success upon its presentation at the inaugural celebration of President Lazaro Cardenas in 1934.

The band’s seminal work throughout the decades set the tone for many mariachi ensembles, earning credit for modernizing the genre. Mariachi Vargas became renowned as the definitive mariachi ensemble, and its classic sound has won the group numerous awards and accolades, including the title of “World’s Best Mariachi” since the 1950s.

Nydia Rojas has lent her innate musical talent and stylistic finesse to a genre steeped in tradition since the age of 9. As a vocalist, songwriter and guitarist, her contemporary musical influences include jazz and world music. At the age of 15, Rojas released her debut album, setting the pace for Mexican folk music in the United States especially amongst young Latinos.

Her third album, “Si Me Conocieras”, earned her a Latin Grammy nomination and several national tours with ’s most adored superstar, . Establishing herself as one of the best Latin female vocalist of her generation, she continues to passionately evolve her musical style while still paying tribute to her musical heritage. Her 5th album produced alongside her husband and musical director Raul Pineda is scheduled to be released in 2012.

Every Thursday night with headliner entertainment, San Manuel gives away $1,000 just for seeing the show. To be eligible to win, guests only need a ticket to the show, a Club Serrano card and to be 21 or older. Guests can enter beginning at noon on such days. Three drawings will be held on those nights: $250 at 7:20 p.m., $250 at 10:00 p.m. and $500 at 11:00 p.m. Winners must be present.
