God Creator of All Things Genesis 1:1 in the Beginning, God Created the Heavens and the Earth Page 1 of 7 God Creator of All Things Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. Isaiah 45:18 For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it empty, he formed it to be inhabited!): “I am the Lord, and there is no other. Revelation 4:11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Hebrews 1:10 And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; Isaiah 42:5 Thus says God, the Lord, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it: Job 38:4 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Page 2 of 7 God Creator of All Things Exodus 20:11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Colossians 1:16-17 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Acts 17:24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, Nehemiah 9:6 “You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you. 2 Peter 3:5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, Isaiah 44:24 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: “I am the Lord, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself, Jeremiah 32:17 ‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. Revelation 14:7 And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.” Jeremiah 51:15 “It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens. Page 3 of 7 God Creator of All Things Psalm 33:9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. Proverbs 3:19 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; Jeremiah 10:12 It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens. Acts 14:15 “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. Psalm 136:5 to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever; Psalm 115:15 May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth! 1 Corinthians 8:6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. Isaiah 40:28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. Psalm 102:25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. Hebrews 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. Page 4 of 7 God Creator of All Things Proverbs 8:22-30 “The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth, before he had made the earth with its fields, or the first of the dust of the world. Psalm 8:3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, Hebrews 3:4 (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) Zechariah 12:1 The burden of the word of the Lord concerning Israel: Thus declares the Lord, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth and formed the spirit of man within him: Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name, by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing. Isaiah 37:16 “O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth. Psalm 124:8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Revelation 10:6 and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, that there would be no more delay, Page 5 of 7 God Creator of All Things Isaiah 51:16 And I have put my words in your mouth and covered you in the shadow of my hand, establishing the heavens and laying the foundations of the earth, and saying to Zion, ‘You are my people.’” Proverbs 16:4 The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble. Psalm 148:4-5 Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created. Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Psalm 89:11-12 The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it, you have founded them. The north and the south, you have created them; Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name. Psalm 33:6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. Romans 11:36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. Acts 4:24 And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, Psalm 146:6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; Psalm 134:3 May the Lord bless you from Zion, he who made heaven and earth! Page 6 of 7 God Creator of All Things Psalm 104:24 O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. Psalm 96:5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Psalm 104:30 When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground. Isaiah 51:13 and have forgotten the Lord, your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, and you fear continually all the day because of the wrath of the oppressor, when he sets himself to destroy? And where is the wrath of the oppressor? 1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— Ephesians 3:9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, Romans 1:19-20 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.

  • The Finger of God (Exodus 31:18) Expository Lessons from the Book of Exodus ______
The Finger of God (Exodus 31:18) Expository Lessons from the Book of Exodus ______________________________________________________________________________ I. Review from the Previous Lessons a. Moses and his assistant Joshua had gone up Mount Sinai (Read Exodus 24:9-15). i. They were called up by the Lord, Who said He would be giving Moses the 10 Commandments on stone tablets. ii. They left the elders behind and left Aaron and Hur in charge, with the instructions “wait for us until we come back”. b. Moses fasted for 40 days during this time. c. While up on the mountain, the Lord showed Moses the pattern for the tabernacle and gave very specific instructions for constructing it, as well as for anointing and clothing the high priest (Aaron) and the priests (his sons) who would serve there. i. We have spent the past several lessons discussing that in detail. ii. It explains in Hebrews that the tabernacle is a physical representation of spiritual realities (heaven, the church, Jesus foreshadowed by the High Priest, etc.). d. Now Moses is about to descend the mountain and return to his people. II. Written with the Finger of God a. Read Exodus 31:18. b. Then let us also read Exodus 32:15 and 34:27-28, which provide more details regarding the stone tablets. c. Details we learn regarding the stone tablets: i. At the end of speaking with Moses, the Lord gives him the two stone tablets. ii. The tablets are engraved with writing on both sides. iii. From the second time that the stones are created (Exodus 34:27-28), we know that the 10 Commandments are written on them.

  • 10 Commandments
July 10, 2021 10 COMMANDMENTS In the Septuagint (or LXX), the "ten words" was translated as "Decalogue", which is derived from Greek dekalogos, the latter meaning and referring to the Greek translation, deka logous. This term is also sometimes used in English, in addition to Ten Commandments. The Tyndale and Coverdale English biblical translations used "ten verses". The Geneva Bible, Bishops' Bible, and the Authorized Version (the "King James" version) use "ten commandments", which is common to most major English versions. The stone tablets, as opposed to the ten commandments inscribed on them, are called Lukhot HaBrit, meaning "the tablets of the covenant". The biblical narrative of the revelation at Sinai begins in Exodus 19 after the arrival of the children of Israel at Mount Sinai (also called Horeb). On the morning of the third day of their encampment, "there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud", and the people assembled at the base of the mount. After "the Lord came down upon mount Sinai", Moses went up briefly and returned with stone tablets and prepared the people, and then in Exodus 20 "God spoke" to all the people the words of the covenant, that is, the "ten commandments" as it is written. Modern biblical scholarship differs as to whether Exodus 19–20 describes the people of Israel as having directly heard all or some of the decalogue, or whether the laws are only passed to them through Moses. The people were afraid to hear more and moved "afar off", and Moses responded with "Fear not." Nevertheless, he drew near the "thick darkness" where "the presence of the Lord" was to hear the additional statutes and "judgments", all which he "wrote" in the "book of the covenant" which he read to the people the next morning, and they agreed to be obedient and do all that the LORD had said.

ETHERIDGE PRICE, 25 CENTS FIRM FOUNDATION PUBLISHING HOUSE, AUSTIN, TmXAs. It-..TRODUCTION What is the Lord's day? A recent answer is that it is the day of our Lord's second coming. But the Apostle John said eighteen centuries ago, "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day" (Rev. 1 :10). Did the Lord come a second time eight een hundred years ago? Of course not. However, men with a theory to sustain never bother with a matter that flatly contradicts their theory! How do they deal with the pas sage? They simply have John tran sported someway through the entire period of time, which they call the "gospel age" or "the church age" to the very day that Christ makes his reappearance; at which time the theory calls for Christ to rebuild the tabernacle of David and begin a thousand years' rei gn of universal peace.

  • The Commands of God (The Ten Commandments)
The Commands of God (The Ten Commandments) When thinking of the commands of God, it is easy to put them off as something the Lord spoke many years ago. Relics of the past and possibly not even relevant to the manner in which our lives are carried out today. However, given the eternal nature of God, He is always relevant, no matter the year, generation, time period or otherwise. God does not necessarily have to do a new thing either. The immutability of God says that He doesn’t change (Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not…). He is the same yesterday, today, and will be forever more. Although God is immutable, that does not mean He doesn’t understand the ever changing and evolving nature of our world and societies. Therefore as we seek to address the immutability of God in an ever-changing world, what of the commands of God. They have not changed either. They need not change, and they never will. It is the unchanging nature of God’s commands that offer stability in this cosmos as it evolves. What is needed now more than ever before is to know what God commands relative to our relationship with him, and then secondly how we are to love and care for one another. The one set of constructs or “Commands of God” that address this as well as, if not better than any other is the Ten Commandments. In this study (of a two-part study) we will look at the commands of God within the context of the Ten Commandments: what they are, what they mean, and their relevance in our ever-evolving world.

  • The Ten Commandments
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS The Ten Commandments are a description of the basic freedom from sin that is necessary to live as a Christian. Please see below for many references that can help us understand more clearly the meaning of the Ten Commandments and how we can better follow them, beyond memorizing them in word. WHERE ARE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN THE BIBLE? While the account of God handing down the Ten Commandments to Moses is greatly outlined in both Exodus 20:2-17 (the Ten Commandments) and Deuteronomy 5:6-21 (the Decalogue), references to the Laws of I Am can be found in endless Scriptures throughout the Old and New Testaments. CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH REFERENCES The Commandments express man's fundamental duties to God and neighbor. As such, they represent grave obligations. To violate them knowingly & willingly in a significant way is to commit mortal sin (CCC #1854- 1864). Also explore our Seven Deadly Sins link (http://www.cmvic.net/7-deadly-sins). CCC #2056 states "The word "Decalogue" means literally "ten words." 11 God revealed these "ten words" to his people on the holy mountain. They were written "with the finger of God," 12 unlike the other commandments written by Moses. 13 They are pre-eminently the words of God. They are handed on to us in the books of Exodus 14 and Deuteronomy. 15 Beginning with the Old Testament, the sacred books refer to the "ten words," 16 but it is in the New Covenant in Jesus Christ that their full meaning will be revealed." 11 Exodus 34:28; Deuteronomy 4:1 and 10:4.

  • The Finger of God (Exodus 7:14–10:29) Introduction There Are Some Tragedies in Life Which Are Simply That—Tragedies
Exodus Study Deffinbaugh Notes Oct 13, 2014 The Finger of God (Exodus 7:14–10:29) Introduction There are some tragedies in life which are simply that—tragedies. The crash of Delta flight 191 this past Friday evening is certainly one of those tragedies. No one would dare, at this point in time, to call this tragedy an act of divine judgment. It is simply one of those tragedies which is a part of the sufferings and sadness of life. There are also tragedies which have a very positive and beneficial purpose. The tragedies of Job’s life, for example, were beneficial to his walk of faith. The “tragedy” of the cross of Christ was beneficial, for it is through His death that we can be saved. The sufferings of the nation Israel during the 400 years of their slavery in Egypt also will, in the drama of Israel’s history in the Book of Exodus (and in the course of our study), prove to be beneficial. There are also those tragedies which are the outworking of the wrath of God. The plagues which God brings upon the Egyptians are a part of God’s judgment of Pharaoh and his people for their oppression of His people, the Israelites (cf. Gen. 15:13-14; Deut. 11:1-4; Ps. 78:44-52). This is a side of God’s dealings with men which we would like to ignore, but we dare not. The judgment of the Egyptians is given a significant amount of space in the Book of Exodus. If we are sensitive to God’s “editorial policy” then we must acknowledge that this judgment is important for us, as well as for the Old Testament saints.

  • The 10 Commandments
The 10 Commandments Research and Development by Dr. Michael Prisco Religious Education Program The 10 Commandments (Decalogue) I) I am the LORD your God: you shall not have strange gods before me. II) You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. III) Remember to keep holy the LORD’s Day. IV) Honor your father and your mother. V) You shall not kill. VI) You shall not commit adultery. VII) You shall not steal. VIII) You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. IX) You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. X) You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods. Where are the 10 Commandments found in the Bible? The 10 Commandments are given in the Old Testament, twice. They are found in Exodus 20:2-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21. The wording is slightly different, but the meaning is the same. The wording given above is called “A Traditional Catechetical Formula” and is found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Ref. 1. What does the word Decalogue mean? Decalogue means “ten words”. God revealed these “ten words” to his people on the holy mountain Sinai. Who wrote the Ten Commandments? The original Ten Commandments were written with the “finger of God” on two stone tablets. Moses destroyed them in his anger against the Israelites who had fallen into sin while he was up on Mount Sinai for 40 days receiving them. The Lord rewrote the Ten Commandments on a second set of stone tablets to replace the first. What do the to Commandments oblige us to do? According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 2072: “Since they express man’s fundamental duties towards God and towards his neighbor, the Ten Commandments reveal, in their primordial content, grave obligations.
