Olson Date: October 2020 JOB SUMMARY The Care Team Lead (CTL) – Critical Care Transport is a who provides informal leadership to staff in a non-supervisory role. This position reports to Critical Care Transport leadership and ensures that nursing staff members maintain clinical competence through ongoing education, quality assurance monitoring, and accreditation requirements. The CTL will work to develop strong relationships with the medical community and organizations that interface with Med Flight in the assigned region. Relationships will be fostered through the development of personal relationships, participation in stakeholder activities, and visibility as a flight crewmember. The CTL is responsible for the needs of the assigned base to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

The CTL demonstrates the ability to care for complex critical care patients by assuming flight duty 66% of the scheduled time or as operational needs require.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participates in professional organizations in area of specialization and interest as well as Emergency Services and hospital committees as directed. Supports and/or participates in research programs approved by the Department of Nursing. • Provides operational support, including 24 hour on-call to respond to operational needs. The call time may be shared with other CTL personnel who are proficient in all aspects of Med Flight operations. • Assists Critical Care Transport leadership in maintaining continuous clinical oversight of the performance of the nursing staff through chart reviews and performance monitoring. • Promotes compliance with Joint Commission, CAMTS, and other regulatory body standards. • Assists leadership in developing and maintaining performance monitoring systems to ensure a high standard of clinical practice is maintained throughout the program. • Contributes to the management of the continuing education plan for nursing staff. Serves as a preceptor and works directly with new employees to plan and execute a tailored orientation. • Organizes and coordinates outreach education opportunities for prehospital personnel and hospital-based care providers throughout the span of care. • Develops and maintains a supply and equipment management system for the assigned base to assure adequate inventory maintenance with cost containment efforts. • Assumes responsibility for facilities management and maintenance needs of the assigned base. • When providing direct patient care, demonstrates proficiency in the practice of critical care and in the transport environment. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care needs while adhering to aircraft safety. • Utilizes excellent verbal and written communication skills to plan patient care and implementation while working with multi-disciplinary services and other health care agencies. • Demonstrates dedication to customer service through positive personal interactions with internal and external customers. Supports the program’s customer service monitoring tools as appropriate to the position. Develops collaborative relationships with base area emergency medical services and outside hospitals and makes routine connections to strengthen bonds. • Collaborates with and actively supports leadership in developing business strategies to grow transport volume.
