Welcome to the 17th annual Gimli Film Festival! This is an historic year in our country and to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday the GFF is screening a selection of the best Canadian films through the decades. These will be shown along with our usual program of Canadian, circumpolar and international films in what promises to be a tremendous year of entertainment for our audiences. There are many film festivals in our country today but none like the GFF. Our rural setting, the exceptional quality of our program and the enthusiastic community support make us unique and exciting. Where else do you find thousands of film goers filling the theatres by day and crowding the beach at night to enjoy cinema by a beautiful lake under the stars? It does make us what Telefilm says is “a jewel” of a festival in our country. Thank you to our Board, volunteers and staff led by our Festival

WELCOME Director Leona Johnson for their hard work and belief in the power of film to enrich our lives. “We Are The Movies and The Movies Are Us.”
