Those of you who knotted the fleece blankets in February will be glad to know that 14 blankets were delivered to the Methodist Children’s Home Society (MCHS) a few days after they were blessed during the February 16th Sunday service. Then on March 10, the last time the WSCS would be able to meet due to COVID-19, twen- ty-one members and a guest met at The Village Club for a beautiful buffet and the sharing of amazing acts of kindness that each of us had experienced. It was a meet- ing that we will long remember with joy.

Being socially isolated did not stop the WSCS from moving forward with their com- mitment to provide a birthday party for the boys living at the Methodist Children’s Home in Redford who had April birthdays. Unfortunately, by the time the wish lists from the two boys were submitted, the WSCS members were no longer able to go out to shop for gifts or for food for the celebration dinner. However, many members had contributed generously at the March 10 meeting, and a vote was tak- en via email to augment the donations with WSCS funds so the party could go for- ward. The amazing staff at MCHS agreed to do all the buying and decorating neces- sary so the two boys would have their birthday party. WSCS mailed a card for each boy and a check for $400, which amply covered all the costs involved. Amazing co- operation made the party a possibility.
