MGC launches new, mobile- friendly website

The Gaming Commission is excited to announce the launch of a new, mobile-enabled MassGaming.com website. The new site is designed to better meet the needs of a growing number of gaming constituents as the Commission prepares for the opening of the state’s two destination resort-.

Constituents and visitors are invited to explore the new website and its enhanced features, which include:

KEY SERVICES: This first section provides quick access to MGC’s critical services and most visited areas of interest. Here constituents can easily access job listings, gross gaming revenue data, meeting archives, public notifications, the Gaming Act, table game rules, and racing information.

EMPLOYEE LICENSING AND REGISTRATION: The new Licensing Management System is featured prominently on the homepage. This newly enhanced system is mobile-enabled and more streamlined to provide casino job applicants with a more efficient and user-friendly experience.

PROGRAM & INITIATIVES: This new section offers quick access to MGC programs and initiatives developed to support fundamental aspects of the agency’s work such as workforce development, responsible gaming, and regulatory compliance.

RESEARCH: The new homepage features quick access to a complete and frequently updated archive of all gaming research reports available for review.

TIMELINE: The website now features an interactive timeline that provides an expansive overview of key dates and milestones related to the implementation of the Gaming Act and the ongoing establishment of state’s gaming industry. The timeline is viewed in categories of interest such as horse racing, responsible gaming or by Regions A, B, and C.

AT A GLANCE: This new section features fast facts about casino developments and gaming research.

BREAKING NEWS ALERTS: MGC has added a breaking “News Alert” function to direct visitors’ attention to real-time information such as an in-progress live stream of an MGC public meeting.

Strategic Collaboration Launches Innovative “Build A Life That Works” Campaign Designed to Increase Diversity in the Union Building Trades

In honor of National Women in Apprenticeship Day, the Northeast Center for Tradeswomen’s Equity (NCTE) in conjunction with state, business, and local partners is excited to announce a first-of-its-kind, statewide recruitment initiative to encourage more women to pursue a career in the union building trades.

The new Build A Life That Works campaign seeks to address an ongoing challenge in an innovative and impactful way by inspiring women to pursue a career in the union building trades as a viable path to equal pay for equal work, excellent benefits, and a better future. Currently, in Massachusetts tradeswomen comprise 5% of the workforce. This statewide effort aims to increase tradeswomen in the building trades to 20% by 2020.

Research Update: Research Update: Plainridge Park Casino Preliminary Study of Patron Survey Results PlayMyWay

MGC issues Gaming School Certification

MGC is pleased to announce that it has issued a Gaming School Certification to Holyoke Community College (HCC) and Springfield Technical Community College (STCC). HCC and STCC will soon launch a Casino Management program to prepare students for employment at a casino as part of an overall workforce training program that can prepare students for a

variety of positions in a gaming establishment.

HCC and STCC are launching this casino workforce training program as part of their Training and Workforce Options collaborative and the Massachusetts Casino Career Training Institute. The gaming school will operate on the ninth floor of 95 State Street in Springfield, MA. Classes will begin in February 2018.

Revenue Report

The month of October 2017 at Plainridge Park Casino generated $13,562,864.69 in Gross Gaming Revenue.

To date, the state has collected $187,393,540.14 in total state taxes and racehorse assessments from Plainridge Park Casino since its June 24, 2015 opening.
