PREFERENCE LISTS

If you have applied for any advertised positions, you must send your list of schools/college (Form 30), in priority order, to the Central Sorting Unit. This will ensure you are considered for the positions and schools/college in the order of your preference.

APPEALS AGAINST APPEALABLE POSITIONS

The National Education Board (NEB) makes appointments to the positions advertised in the Vacancy Gazette. Some positions maybe declare appealable.

There are agreed processes that members of the Board use to make their appointments. There may be instances where the NEB is not unanimous in its decision and so make the position appealable. You are entitled to appeal against an appealable position once appointments have been published in the Confirmation Gazette. To register your appeal, you must put it in writing to the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) five (5) weeks after the date of Confirmation Gazette.

Appeals received after this date will not be considered by the TSC.

Your appeal will be considered by the TSC and you will receive a response in writing when it has been resolved. All appeals will be resolved by the TSC and teachers will be notified.

Appointing Authority is under no obligation to find an alternative posting for a teacher who refuses or rejects a posting. When a teacher rejects a posting, there is no guarantee he or she will be posted to another location.

Once a teacher has refused or rejected a posting, they can only be re-appointed to it if no other teacher (including a graduate) accepts it. - 6 -
