Grand Rapids Public Library Archives Grand Rapids Historic & Special Grand Rapids Public Library Archives Grand Rapids Historic & Special Collections Robinson Photographic Studio Collection (125) Commercial Series. List of Folder Headings, Alphabetically May 2009 version Note: This is one of many finding aids to the very large Robinson Studio Collection. For several of the series of the Robinson Studio Collection (H, E, O, R, and CH), there is a database mounted on the Web which provides set level description of the images. The Commercial Negatives Series (CL) is about three times the size of all of those series combined. To date, there is no searchable database for the Robinson Commercial images. This list of headings is the best first attempt to provide some searchable access to the holdings of the Robinson Commercial Series. The Robinson Commercial negatives are arranged according to the organization hiring the Robinson Studio to take the photographs included in the set. These folders are ordered alphabetically, with the exception of another set of folders at the end of the alphabet, which may have been found late during processing, and have a separate order. Images are not necessarily included in an obvious set. For example, the images of John Kennedy, riding on the back of a convertible, during his presidential champaign against Nixon, are included in the Duthler Ford set, since Duthler hired the photos. This means that the more information and keyword clues that the researcher can bring to this list, the more likely the researcher may be in finding a set of negatives which has relevant visual information. Some investigation may be required to identify more key names associated with an event first, before using this list to search for images.
