Mark Ronson Remixes Angel Olsen's “​New Love Cassette​” June 19, 2020 For Immediate Release Mark Ronson Remixes Angel Olsen’s “New Love Cassette” ​ ​ Cosmic Stream Series Kicks Off Tonight @ 9pm Eastern “New Love Cassette” (Mark Ronson Remix) Artwork Today, Angel Olsen releases a Mark Ronson remix of “New Love Cassette,” “a three-minute ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ slice of Olsen's ever-expanding sound, and her commitment to a love everlasting” (PAPER). ​ ​ The track, off last year’s All Mirrors, has become a fan favorite both live and on streaming ​ ​ platforms. Ronson’s remix turns “New Love Cassette” into a dark, glitchy ode to romance. As Olsen’s vocals declare a dedicated love, “I'm gonna help you see when you're hard to find // ​ Gonna gather strength, give you all my mind // Wanna show you my love all the time // Wanna hold you close and let you lie,” the instrumentation lightens, with a resonating beat and ​ floating synth. This is the duo’s first collaboration since Olsen’s “True Blue,” a standout ​ ​ single that appeared on Ronson’s Late Night Feelings. ​ ​ “The entire process of making All Mirrors has been about letting these songs become something ​ bigger than what I can hear alone,” says Angel. “Though I know I’ll always be a songwriter at ​ ​ heart, and I’ll always keep a little bit for myself, I still love to experiment with material and to see what others hear when it comes to sonic backgrounds. A song can go in so many directions if you let it, I love hearing what Ronson hears in this remix of 'New Love Cassette.’” Ronson adds: "It’s hard to remix a song you already love this much, but I dusted off my MPC ​ 3000 and we had a grand old time." ​ In conjunction, Angel has announced a summer streaming series called Cosmic Streams, ​ ​ shot by her longtime collaborator and video director Ashley Connor. It presents Angel performing her debut solo album, 2012’s Half Way ​ Home, in its entirety. On one hand, the international expansion of K-pop can be understood as a result of the strategic planning and business execution that are created and carried out by the entertainment agencies. On the other hand, external circumstances such as the rise of social media also create a wide array of opportunities for K-pop to broaden its global appeal. The research explores the ways how the interplay between external circumstances and organizational strategies has jointly contributed to the global circulation of K-pop. The research starts with providing a general descriptive overview of K-pop. Following that, quantitative methods are applied to measure and assess the international recognition and global spread of K-pop. Next, a systematic approach is used to identify and analyze factors and forces that have important influences and implications on K-pop’s globalization. The Scot’s debut, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, bounces 3-1 to secure its fifth week at the summit, although its sales are off 21.00% week-on-week to 19,003 (including 11,085 from sales-equivalent streams) its lowest haul yet. Denied his fifth No.1 album at the death, Will Young’s seventh studio set, Lexicon, opens at No.2 on sales of 16,706 copies. Over a punchy beat and rumbling bass line, ​ ​ Olsen’s striking vocals carry the song as she describes a bittersweet ending to an intense relationship: “fucking around // havin’ fallen in love // saying goodbye // cause you’re giving it ​ up // all that you were // all that you lost // whoever thought it came with a cost?” before ​ eventually blending into swirling reverb and synth. “I wasn’t sure what it would be like to work with Mark, considering we are both from different ​ production worlds..but it was such a fun, organic experience for me. Seriously,” says Olsen. “He ​ ​ gave me full reign to try things out - I even play a little guitar on the track (not that I’m a virtuoso player or anything). At the time I’d been listening to a lot of dark disco, specifically Nicos dance version of Heroes. I wanted to make something dark like that but also something people could skate to. A true roller rink song. Hearing the final track back was so rewarding for me. I can’t say it enough. I hope to play it live!
