Generally, either living or deceased organs are accepted in transplant practice, yet, each source holds its own benefits and adverse effects. Living organ donation encounters controversial and problematic issues at individual, social, and humanity levels. Cadaveric organ donation faces the obstacles of the criteria of death, which vary from cultural to medical perspectives, and the effective means to attract the public. Currently, presumed consent policies operating in Spain, Belgium, and Singapore have proved their effectiveness in increasing the number of donor organs. However, the increasing number of donor organs should not be a sole, iv sufficient indicator for the effectiveness of a policy. Instead, the sustainable growth in the number of organ donors after their death should be the goal of a policy in order to promote a promising outlook for organ donation sources. And, the factor that enhances the sustainability is public trust. The dissertation proposes a new approach for a more long-run outcome in increasing the number of organ donors. It is a model for a sustainable source of post- mortal organ donation. The model encourages deceased organ donation by assurance of the core value of donation act- altruism, and the protection and appreciation for donors as well as healthcare professionals. Most importantly, the model targets on obtaining and maintaining public trust by protecting one’s autonomy and human dignity, thereby creating a sustainable source of donor. v DEDICATION I dedicate this work to my father, mothers, and siblings.     Artificial Organ Introduction An artificial organ is a man-made device that is implanted or integrated into a human body to replace a natural organ or restoring a specific function so the patient may return to as normal a life as possible. They can be used both for functions that are essential to life and also for purposes that are not related to survival but do improve a person's quality of life. The organs that can be replaced artificially are quite numerous (including the ears, ovaries, and even the heart and brain), eg. artificial heart, pacemaker, artificial kidney machine, heart-lung machine, etc. Perhaps the most common manifestation of an artificial organ is hearing aids that are used to improve a person's ability to hear and distinguish sounds. The replaced function doesn't necessarily have to be related to life support, but the ultimate goal of artificial organ research and development is fully functional created organs that can be integrated into the body which fully replaces the natural organ and remains functional for a lifetime. Many steps have been taken towards this goal, and it is very likely that the field will continue to change and develop. The reasons to construct and install an artificial organ might include: Life support to prevent imminent death while awaiting a transplant (e.g. artificial heart) Dramatic improvement of the patient's ability for self care (e.g. artificial limb) Improvement of the patient's ability to interact socially (e.g. cochlear implant) Cosmetic restoration after cancer surgery or accident Previously, an artificial organ would be created completely out of synthetic material, such as plastics or metals.

Clinical issues surrounding facial tissue donation are examined, comprising pre-transplant facial vessel delineation; pre-operative aesthetic matching; and attitudes towards donation. An anatomical study of 200 consecutive facial and transverse facial vessels was performed using colour Doppler ultrasound. Facial vessels were measured at three landmarks and their branching pattern documented. The facial artery main branch was detected at the lower mandibular border in 99.5% of cases, the accompanying facial vein in 97.5%. The transverse facial artery was present in 75.5% of cases, the vein found in 58%. When the facial artery was undetectable, there was transverse facial artery dominance. When the facial vein was absent it was replaced with a transverse facial vein. This provides valuable pre-operative information regarding vessel status. A quantitative eleven- point skin tonal matching scheme is described using digital analysis of facial imagery.

Bull Received: 11 August 2016; Accepted: 19 October 2016; Published: 27 October 2016 Abstract: Over the past several decades, over 100 countries have passed legislation banning commercial organ transplantation. What explains this rapid, global diffusion of laws? Based on qualitative data from in-depth interviews, historical analysis, and secondary sources, this paper explores the role played by the medical epistemic community and human rights in the global spread of laws against the organ trade. In addition to shaping, guiding, and influencing norms and approaches to transplantation, the epistemic community has been instrumental in the development of various resolutions, policy initiatives, recommended practices, statements, legislation, and model laws. Moreover, the epistemic community helped position the organ trade as an issue of societal and global importance, and it persistently encouraged states to undertake actions, such as implementing legislation, to combat the organ trade. Critically, the epistemic community’s efforts against the organ trade incorporated the concepts of human rights, integrity, and dignity, which had diffused globally and become institutionalized in the period after WWII.
