This means that we can take in and re-home two more cats from our lengthy waiting list.     REVEL BENEFICE Passionate about sharing God’s love with the whole community Page 1 of 32 BISHOP’S INTRODUCTION There has been a willingness and commitment of the parishes within the Revel Benefice to re- think how mission and ministry might look in their rural context. A few years ago, I challenged them to do some work on what the future shape of their ministry might look like. To their great credit they have taken up the challenge and responded very well. The Parish Profile reflects how far their thinking has come, along with changes in structure they have already made. They have engaged healthily with the 8 Essential Qualities, which they have undertaken as a whole benefice. This has enabled their journey of growing as a mission shaped church to continue. A growth in shared ministry, lay leadership and working together has continued to bear fruit through Messy church, and a growing relationship with schools, has enabled the mission and ministry to continue even with the challenges posed by illness and early retirement of the previous incumbent. The Revel journey draws on a spiritual heritage I found very inspiring when arriving in Coventry Diocese. It can be read in a little but influential book by Stephen Verney called, ‘Fire in Coventry’, and describes how the Spirit moved in the hearts of people in Monks Kirby and the spiritual awakening across the Diocese that happened as a result. My hope and prayer is that this benefice may once again be a place of influential spiritual momentum. This heritage in the spiritual dynamic of laity, has given energy to new forms of mission and ministry in a rural context.

    Barton Stacey Conservation Area Character Appraisal 1 Introduction Conservation Areas A conservation area is an area designated by the local planning authority as one of special architectural or historic interest. Once designated, the local authority has a duty1 to ensure that the character of a conservation area is preserved or enhanced, particularly when considering applications for development. Purpose of Character Appraisals Local authorities are encouraged to prepare Character Appraisals, providing detailed assessments of their conservation areas. Appraisals enable the local authority to understand the elements that give each area its distinct and unique character, identifying special qualities and highlighting features of particular signifi cance. Those elements include: historic development; landscape and topography; style, type and form of the buildings, and the spaces between buildings; materials, textures, colours and detailing; and less tangible aspects, such as sounds and smells, which can contribute to the special character of the area. A Character Appraisal is intended as an overview, providing a framework within which individual planning applications can be assessed. It includes text, an appraisal plan and photographs. DRAFT STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS 2018 No. LOCAL GOVERNMENT, ENGLAND The Test Valley (Electoral Changes) Order 2018 Made - - - - *** Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2) and (3) Under section 58(4) of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009( a) (“the Act”), the Local Government Boundary Commission for England( b) (“the Commission”) published a report dated October 2017 stating its recommendations for changes to the electoral arrangements for the borough of Test Valley. The Commission has decided to give effect to those recommendations. A draft of the instrument has been laid before each House of Parliament, a period of forty days has expired since the day on which it was laid and neither House has resolved that the instrument be not made. The Commission makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 59(1) of the Act. Citation and commencement 1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Test Valley (Electoral Changes) Order 2018. (2) This article and article 2 come into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.     NAME Wherwell PARISH Wherwell HUNDRED Wherwell DISTRICT Test Valley NGR SU 389408 GEOLOGY Upper chalk and alluvium SITE CONTEXT The village lies on the NW bank of the River Test, mainly on the lower slopes of the steep valley side but with some houses actually on the flood plain alongside the river. The 50m contour runs through the settlement almost along the line of the SW-NE road. To the NW the valley side rises sharply to over 90m OD. PLAN TYPE & DESCRIPTION Composite. Regular rows and irregular row. Within the plan of Wherwell several blocks of regular rows are obvious. On the SE side of the river alongside the lane that leads to the church there is a block of three plots of equal size with a thinner and shorter plot along the river bank. On the N side of the lane there are two units with shorter tofts, the E unit appearing to be later than the W unit as it overlaps the W unit along the rear boundary. On the NW side of the river and on the N side of the lane to the church there are the remains of another regular row, the rear boundary of which curves round to continue as the rear boundary of some of the plots along the main street through the village. Opposite the junction of Church Street and the main road on the NW side of the road there in another regular row which appears to have had some of its plots amalgamated. The rear boundary continues either side of the row but bounds empty, open fields except for a very small plot in the N field.
