The various category winners are awarded a copy of a golden statuette, officially called the “Academy Award of Merit”, which has become commonly known by its nickname “Oscar”. The sculpture was created by George Stanley. The awards, first presented in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, are overseen by AMPAS. Oscar Awards – History The first Academy Awards presentation was held on May 16, 1929, at a private dinner function at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with an audience of about 270 people. The post-awards party was held at the Mayfair Hotel. The cost of guest tickets for that night’s ceremony was $5 ($71 in 2017 dollars). Fifteen statuettes were awarded, honoring artists, directors and other participants in the film-making industry of the time, for their works during the 1927–28 period. The ceremony ran for 15 minutes. Should you read this book? If you think it is interesting that on September 11, 2001, Flight 77 reportedly hit the 77 foot tall Pentagon, in Washington D.C. on the 77th Meridian West, after taking off at 8:20 AM and crashing at 9:37 AM, 77 minutes later, then this book is for you. Furthermore, if you can comprehend that there is a code of numbers behind the letters of the English language, as simple as A, B, C is 1, 2, 3, and using this code reveals that phrases and names such as ‘September Eleventh’, ‘World Trade Center’ and ‘Order From Chaos’ equate to 77, this book is definitely for you. And please know, these are all facts, just the same as it is a fact that Pentagon construction began September 11, 1941, just prior to Pearl Harbor. NIFFF - Press release, 20.06.2019 NIFFF 2019: THE 19TH EDITION AT THE CROSSROADS OF IMAGINATION The Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) completely embraces the possibilities of alterity in its ambitious programme for the 19th edition, which will take place from July 5th to July 13th. The competition will champion the universality of imagination by gathering visionary creators from all over the world in the thousand- year-old city. Films in the International Competition will compete for the H.R. Giger Narcisse award (CHF 10,000), granted by the City of Neuchâtel. This year’s selection highlights the incredible dynamism of contemporary fantasy films, a genre that still holds a special place for master filmmakers and newcomers alike. Genre cinema is a bottomless well of rejuvenation and diversity, which invites the audience to step out of its comfort zone to understand today’s world. The gripping vision of emerging European auteurs (THE LODGE, Veronika Franz and Se- verin Fala; THE HOLE IN THE GROUND, Lee Cronin; YVES, Benoît Forgeard; THE ROOM, Christian Volckler) will rub shoulders with the American indie film scene (SOMETHING ELSE, Jeremy Gardner and Christian Stell; KNIVES AND SKIN, Jennifer Reeder; DANIEL ISN’T REAL, Adam Egypt Mortimer). As an international event, the festival also focuses on fantasies from Asia with a high-quality competition – NEW CINEMA FROM ASIA –, and from Africa with the retrospective REFLECTIONS OF SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA, in the presence of exceptional guests such as Ghanean afrobeat duo FOKN BOIS and film- maker Pierre-Alain Meier. The EL DORADO section will showcase three gems from Latin America, including the masterpiece MONOS directed by Alejandro Landes (winner of the Sundance Jury Prize).

Analysis of the digital conversation for the 2018 ACADEMY AWARDS March, 2018 CONTEXT ACADEMY AWARDS, 2018 On March 4th, 2018, we had the 90th Oscar Ceremony, a prize given by the AMPAS to the crème of the crop in movies, recognizing their excellence in the industries’ professionals, and is considered the greatest honor in movies worldwide. 4 THE AWARDS: THE PRIDE OF MEXICO Lately, it has become common to see Mexicans participating of the Oscars. During Oscar’s 86, 87 & 88, a Mexican took 2 statues, both as best director & best movie. This is why this year it is not surprising to see Mexico’s participation, however, we had never seen such a Mexican delivery as this one. Last year, the current president of the US, Donald Trump. While being sworn in said he would put up a wall between the US and Mexico so as to avoid immigration by illegal aliens from Lat Am; stemming from this fact and others, such as the renegotiation of NAFTA the relationship between countries has suffered. This situation has generated a friction between countries, yet, “The Academy” has shown to be against these remarks and has done so in every ceremony appealing to equality and inclusion for all cultures, preferences and genders. 5 DONALD TRUMP VS. MÉXICO After the 87th Academy awards, when Mexican national “Alejandro González Iñarritu” was awarded with 3 Oscars for his film “Birdman”, current US president “Donald Trump” tweeted a series of messages of disapproval: 6 THE MOST MEXICAN ACADEMY AWARDS On the 90th Academy Awards Mexico was more present than ever: “Coco” a Disney Pixar film centered on the Mexican The shape of water, written and directed by tradition of the day of the dead was nominated filmmaker Guillermo del Toro was nominated and awarded as best animated movie & best to 14 awards of which it got 4.
