One of Europe’s leading character tenors, Alasdair Elliott’s acclaimed portrayals include such roles as Mime for Scottish ’s production of Der Ring; Pong () for the Teatro Real, Madrid, , and Reisopera, ; Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte) ) for the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, , Touring Opera and in Lisbon; Red Whiskers ( ) and the Gamekeeper ( ) for Glyndebourne Festival Opera; Bardolpho and Ciaus ( ) for the Royal Opera, , Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and with the Symphony Orchestra; and First and Fourth Jew ( ) for Opera Royal de , English National Opera, and Netherlands Opera also recorded for Chandos.

He is also well-known for his interest in contemporary music. He performed Festus in the world premiere of Legende for NPS in the Concertgebouw while his performances of Der Kanzler and Der Schreiber in Schreker’s Der Schatzgräber for The Netherlands Opera; Vova in Schnittke’s Life with an Idiot for both English National Opera and Scottish Opera, and The Servant in the world premiere of John Buller’s The Bacchae for English National Opera earned him critical acclaim.

In opera and in concert he has worked with some of the world’s leading conductors including , Sir , Sir , Valdimir Jurovsky, Sir Richard Armstrong, Sir , , and Sir . He has performed regularly in concert with the London Symphony Orchestra, Monteverdi Choir, , and the .
