We have already written about the corona virus, but like all other media out- to COVID-19 lets, we need to write again and make comparisons to previous epidemics.

Corona is unlike HIV/AIDS which is an avoidable disease. You must engage in certain behaviour in order to become infected with AIDS – except when it is mother to child infection. Unlike this, and like SARS and the others, you don’t have to be doing anything unusual in order to get Covid 9. But, unlike SARS and the others, this virus seems to have a greater life span and the experts are still learning about it each day.. They advice that we socially dis- tant – defined as 3 feet away - from the next person. This is suggested in case the person next to you is infected,it can reduce the chances of you getting the virus .

Because of the unusual length of time it appears to be able to remain alive ,which is much longer than other viruses, especially on hard surfaces that are most often found in buildings; surfaces like counter tops, we are encouraged to wash our hands with soap and water regularly and to wipe services with soap and water often. In other words, the Corona virus is like no other in recent history, and perhaps in all history, so much so that some persons describe it as one of the end-of- time plagues predicted in the Bible. In fact, the virus is so diabolical that it has changed the way we worship, have communion, use our hospitals, greet and care for loved ones. It has also changed our vocabulary to introduce terms like social distancing. Touching people now, deliberately or accidentally, may become a death sentence and a criminal act.

There is also the economic impact which is still unfolding.

But there is encouraging news. If established protocols are followed, we will be ok. So wash and or disinfect hands regularly. Keep your distance. Keep away from crowds.
