CURE Worldwide

Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts. Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. Remember the wonders He has done, the miracles and the judgments He pronounced. 1 Chronicles 16: 8 - 12

Praise God for His faithfulness and for giving us the ability to touch lives around the world.

Pray for the New Believer in your email who has recently come to Christ through the ministry outreach of CURE. Continue to pray for the impact we have on patients, both physically and spiritually.

Afghanistan Praise God that two of our CURE staff will be presenting at the International Society of Obstetric Fistula Surgeons in Senegal in November. The fistula program in our Kabul Hospital continues to thrive from a teaching, funding and international perspective. Two Afghan OB/GYN physicians have completed training and a third is currently in training in fistula .

Pray that we can find qualified staff to fill leadership positions. We are currently recruiting for two key positions: Social Services Director and Nurse Matron.

Bethlehem Praise God that we continue to look at suitable sites for a CURE hospital in the Bethlehem area.

Pray that in God’s perfect timing our efforts will result the establishment of a hospital that will minister to the children of that area.

Dominican Republic Praise God for the orthopedic training program for Haitian surgeons that has been initiated at our CURE hospital. Dr. Francel Alexis from Port au Prince will be at our hospital for six months, after which time he will return to to continue treating the people of his country.

Pray for the third group of grief counselors who have been trained by Phil Hudson, the CURE Haiti Relief Director and Samuel Reyes, CURE Spiritual Director. This group has been deployed to Haiti to minister spiritually and emotionally to the people of Haiti. Although Hurricane Tomas did not wreak the havoc that was anticipated, the cholera outbreak continues to claim lives and further impact families who are already experiencing overwhelming trauma.

Egypt Praise God that your faithful prayers for have been answered! We have made arrangements with two orthopedic surgeons in to begin evaluating and treating disabled children starting Jan 2011.

Pray that the details can be finalized and our long awaited desire to establish a ministry in Egypt will become a reality.

Ethiopia Praise God for the many testimonies that we are hearing from families whose children have been healed. Our Spiritual Director reports that a recent visitor asked “What do you do to change the faces of the children, they look completely different.” His answer was “It is because they are not only treated physically but also spiritually. The spiritual impact surpasses the physical because there will be God’s joy in their heart.”

Pray that we will quickly find a full time pediatric plastic surgeon to replace Dr. Paul Lim who has returned, with his family, to the US.

Honduras Praise God for the training and educational activities that have been initiated at the CURE Honduras hospital. Dr. Sergio Flores, orthopedic resident, recently submitted an evaluation of his two month rotation with CURE to the National University Residency Program. Dr. Flores participated in more than 60 , including 37 cases he had never seen during his prior residency work. Dr. Flores has petitioned the University to extend his residency with CURE in order to receive additional training.

Pray funding for these programs will continue. Pray also for the orthopedic surgeons who continue to volunteer until such time as a full time Medical Director is in place in September, 2011. Please continue to pray for Dr. Schwentker as he is making frequent trips to San Pedro Sula while also continuing to support his wife, Bunny, as she continues her difficult treatment for ovarian cancer.

Kenya Praise God for the six orthopedic residents being trained at our AIC CURE Children’s Hospital of Kijabe. Praise also for a grant by the German embassy in Nairobi for new playground equipment. This new equipment will provide an additional therapy option for our recovering patients.

Pray for our medical and spiritual teams as they travel to mobile clinics. In the past 9 months they have participated in 23 mobile clinics. These clinics represent days that are very long and involve travel over roads that are often hazardous.

Malawi Praise God for the 80 church leaders who recently attended training courses in personal evangelism and leadership skills. These leaders will now be joining the CURE Spiritual Center team every time a mobile clinic is held in their areas to share gospel presentations and follow up with new believers.

Pray for Dr. David Burgess as he has committed to join CURE on a part time basis next year with plans to serve as full time Medical Director effective early 2012. Please also pray for our current orthopedic consultant, Dr. John Cashman, who has agreed to serve as interim Medical Director when Dr. Jim Harrison leaves on sabbatical in June 2011.

Niger Praise God for the surgeries that have already been performed in our newest hospital in , . Praise also for the expat nurse trainers who conducted in-service classes for the national nurses to upgrade their skills according to the medical standards established by CURE.

Pray for our management team as the construction and opening of the hospital is a reality and they now turn to the task of navigating through ongoing government requirements where all documentation is in French, the official language of Niger. Pray as they continue to take language lessons and that they will acquire facility in communicating.

Uganda Praise God for Dr. Marcel Sincari, a neurosurgeon from who was trained at the CURE Children’s Hospital of . Dr. Sincari is the tenth neurosurgeon in the last six years to undergo training in Endoscopic Third Ventricular (ETV), a technique for treating hydrocephalus.

Pray for the preparations of the ten year celebration of the opening of our CURE Uganda hospital. Rejoice with us as we remember all of the children that have received life saving care since it opened in 2000.

United Arab Emirates Praise God for relationships with local Emiratis that open spiritual discussions – a first for Oasis Hospital.

Pray for a good working relationship between the contractor, architect and Stephen Miller’s team from the hospital as they embark upon construction of the new hospital.

Zambia Praise God for the grand opening celebration that was recently held to celebrate the completion renovations in the operating theaters and the newly opened Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) clinic.

Pray for our Executive Director, Peter Kyalo as he will be married on December 11. Kyalo was one of our first employees in and has faithfully served in other CURE hospitals before moving to . Please join us in prayer for Kyalo and his bride as they begin their new life together.

CURE Clubfoot Worldwide (CCW ) Praise God for the 6 new CCW counselors who have just begun working in new clinic locations in Cambodia.

Pray God’s favor and anointing will rest on our Cambodian counselors as they begin to treat children with clubfoot and have the opportunity to share the Gospel with their families.

Home Office Praise God for the arrival of our newest CURE family member. Our Human Resources Manager, Anna Serafin and her husband, Jim, welcomed their son, Andrew James on November 8. Andrew James was born healthy and robust – reason for great thanksgiving and rejoicing.

Pray for our home office staff as some of them are experiencing travel related illness.

Come let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under His care. Psalm 95: 6 & 7
