The Shopping Street Which is a Symbol of the “Kuidaore (Eat Until You Drop) City, ”, Offering a Variety of Food to Wander Around and Sample: Kuromon Market

Kuromon Market is a shopping street located in the heart of Osaka City called Minami District. A covered arcade 300m long from east to west and 80m long from south to north, it has about 150 shops selling a wide range of foods such as fresh fish, fugu (globe fish), suppon (softshell turtle), vegetables, fruits, meat, and pickles. This variety of foods attracts many locals and foreign tourists. The name Kuromon Market comes from a black gate of Enmyoji Temple that was nearby; a black gate in Japanese meaning Kuromon, hence the name Kuromon Market.
