U13 Tour KwaZulu Natal 2011 During the April holiday the U13 cricket team toured KwaZulu Natal. The tour comprised 14 boys, Mr Keyser and Mr Stamper. The team played 6 matches against varying strength opposition. The Schools played against were Pelham Primary, St Charles‟ College, Howick Prep, Felixton College, Umhlali Prep and Virginia Prep. The results were a mixed bag, and the weather definitely took its toll on our boys, who took time to become accustomed to the severe humidity. As is the case with any Bridge House tour, the boys were exposed to a number of other activities which were not related to cricket. The group spent time at the exciting Ushaka Marine World, visited a traditional Zulu cultural village, observed a shark dissection at the Natal Sharks Board, spent a night at the Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve and also spent a fair amount of time at the impressive Gateway Shopping Mall (the biggest mall in the southern hemisphere). The boys were hosted by the parents of the various schools, and this gave them the opportunity to create new friendships. A tour like this would not be possible without the support of the parents and the commitment of the staff involved, so a very big thank to them.

Behind the scenes in Franschhoek A highlight for the Grade 3s last term was their outing to Franschhoek. First they were taken on a tour „behind the scenes‟ in Pick „n Pay. This even included baking their own rolls in the bakery. Armed with a list and purses, they enthusiastically filled their baskets and estimated whether their money would stretch to pay for it all. This very grown up experience was followed by a most interesting visit to Truckles, where they saw cheeses larger than ever seen before and put their estimation skills to a different test in the cheese cutting competition specially set out for them.

- 3 - Many thanks to Mr Stuart Downie, Mr Hugo Blaisse and their staff who so kindly went out of their way to make our day so memorable and informative.

Paddling for good reason! Paddling at the last practice of term took on a whole new meaning to „candoing‟ when BH and Paarl Canoe Club paddlers teamed up in K2s to work together to clean up the litter in the river. Black bag after black bag was brought back to the bank amidst much fun and laughter. Do you know how difficult it is to paddle with a huge, filled-to-the-brim black bag in the canoe with you?

Lice!!! Please note that there have been incidents reported. Please check your children‟s hair for nits and lice and apply the necessary treatment. - 4 - EASTER FAIR - WEDNESDAY 20th April On Wednesday 20 April, the Grade Sixes will be hosting an Easter Fair for the prep school in order to raise funds for the Grade 7 farewell. There will be goodies to buy and lots of fun activities for the children to take part in. The Grade Sixes will be looking at entrepreneurship, so hopefully they get a taster of the commercial world! Please help the Grade Sixes by ensuring your child has some money to spend at the fair! The fair will take place from 10:10am.

Music Staff Concert! The Bridge House music staff will present a concert on 20 April. There will be performances in voice, piano, strings, guitar and a few surprises! If you have never attended one of these concerts, before you have missed a wonderful evening.
