The Caedmon School (Pre-K through Grade 5), in New York City, is seeking an experienced, full-time Elementary Science/STEAM/Technology teacher, to start end of August/September 1, 2019. The school completely renovated the state of the art Science/STEAM Lab last year. While the core fundamentals are in place, this position is a unique opportunity for a self-motivated and creative individual to build a new and even more innovative elementary STEAM program at The Caedmon School. The ideal candidate will be research-informed, seek collaboration, apply strong interpersonal and communication skills, and feel comfortable coaching colleagues as well as being coached as a member of a professional learning community. She or he has a passion for working with children and has a solid understanding of children's social, emotional, and academic developmental stages. The candidate will also provide educational opportunities for parents. Qualifications ● A distinct fondness for working with children ● A Master’s degree in elementary education or similar field; Additional coursework and professional development in science, STEAM, and technology is strongly desired ● Successful, full-time First through Fifth grade classroom teaching experience, preferably with multiple grade levels ● Ability to create and implement interdisciplinary, standards-based units of study ● Ability to work constructively both independently and with others - both children and adults - and with teams of teachers ● Ability to assess student needs and performance and to interpret results to inform instructional planning ● Comfort and experience with social media, digital literacy and citizenship, as well as innovative practices around educational technology Key Duties and Responsibilities ● Teach Grades 1-5 Elementary Science, Grades 3-5 Technology, and develop and integrate STEAM learning into the current science curriculum. ● Promote enhanced science and STEAM instruction and student learning, including differentiated instruction techniques, assessments, and materials ● Participate enthusiastically in Faculty Research Task Forces and committees ● Pursue professional development vigorously The Caedmon School is a Montessori-inspired independent school (2 year olds to grade 5) on the Upper East Side of Manhattan that is actively pursuing a dynamic, team oriented, and authentically diverse staff. After School & Music School Winter Trimester 2018 After School and Music School • 1 General Information More than a century ago, Maria Montessori noted children are naturals at building and are quite good at creative design as well. It is with this knowledge, and in keeping with a key theme in our school curriculum, that we unveil the new winter after school program. Included, but not limited to this idea, is Ms. Milton’s STEAM Builders; Caedmon mom Clare Tattersall’s Sewing Tech; Code Advantage’s Kodu Plus; and Science/ Art Fusion from Intellectual Kids Club. At Caedmon, we encourage children to build and move at the same time. Nothing does this better than the array of dance classes this winter. These include Jazz/Hip Hop, World Dance Party, Dance Fitness, and Ballet Dancing. Other classes that will keep the children moving are Swimming, Fencing, Junior Gymnastics, Sword Class I and II, Yoga/Pilates Plus, Circus Yoga, and more. Classes taught by Caedmon teachers again comprise almost half of our offerings. Fans of Mr. Storti, Ms. Vrazel, Ms. Milton, Coach Trotter, Ms. Kilbane, Ms. Messing, Ms. Flatow, Ms. Festa, Mr. McNerney, Mr. Dimmick, Ms. Schneider, and Ms. McCafferty have the unique pleasure of their time, creativity, and engagement in the post-3:30 hours. Hats off to these terrific teachers. Caedmon After School classes are 40, 60 or 80 minutes in length with dismissal times at 4:20, 4:40 or 5:00. Check the class listing carefully so you or your child’s caretaker knows when the class ends. Any child not picked up 10 minutes beyond the end of class is automatically brought to Extended Day and will be charged the Extended Day rate.

Our maximum number of campers is 120 per day. Our camp is divided into 5 groups, Staten Island Frogs (age 2.8-3), Brooklyn Beavers (age 4), Manhattan Monkeys (age 5), Bronx Bees (age 6-7), and Queens Penguins (age 8-12) Opening Summer Camp The following are the protocols and procedures for opening summer camp school operations including campers, counselors, and staff returning to in-person instruction: Capacity The Caedmon School facility consists of 33,000 square feet of indoor space. The building has been evaluated to determine the amount of classroom and office capacity and the number of persons that can be accommodated based on 6 feet of distance. At the time of this report, our camp/school is ready for 170 campers and 58 staff members. Appropriate distancing will be enforced, as appropriate to age groups, and sufficient PPE will be required and available. Social or Physical Distancing We have developed protocols and procedures for campers, counselors, and staff to ensure appropriate distancing throughout our school facilities. To the extent possible, all individuals of appropriate age will observe appropriate distancing of 6 feet of space in all directions between individuals. Signs are installed throughout the school reminding individuals of distancing requirements, and hallways are marked appropriately to indicate one-way directionality.
