Pancit is Filipino rice noodles that contain carrots, green onions, garlic, cabbage, chicken, lemon, soy sauce, scallions, and celery. Holidays are full of sweet moments as well as sweet desserts and delights. Mr. Proctor makes his own grandma’s tradition, divinity fudge. These chocolaty peanut butter delights are incredibly good to eat for a holiday treat. How do spiced big apples sound? Mr. Polgar celebrates his holidays by making tiny sour glazed apples with chestnut and caramel stuffing. Our senior, Adrian Beltran enjoys the holidays by eating his aunt’s pumpkin pie. Sophomore,Cesar Quiñonez lets us know that in his culture it is common to eat empanadas which are bread with delicious fruits inside. Another delicious Mexican treat would be buñuelos. Freshman, Maribel Araiza does them for her holidays. Seems like our Grizzlies sure do love to eat their carbs, but they don’t forget to eat healthy as well. Dear Gummy Bear, How do I get my brother to get focused on school? He’s in the 10th grade and he’s getting Cs and Ds. He has no idea what uni- versity he wants to go to and he’s driving my mother crazy taking him to tutoring! Help! Sincerely, Overwhelmed Dear Overwhelmed, Really applying yourself to anything is difficult, especially in high school. I don’t know if you’ve tried getting him to really look at himself. The lifestyle he holds is not going to get him anything. The harder he works for the next 2 and a half years, the less he’ll have to really labor for money in the future. Maybe he just doesn’t know what he wants to do in life. If he has a girlfriend, ask him how he would provide for her and his family? How would he spend time with them if he’s working 2 full time jobs and still barely making ends meet? Sometimes people just need to see a reason to work for the grades. Instead of asking what university he wants to attend, ask: “What job could you wake up to in the morning, and enjoy?” and work from there. . .
