“GOAZEN ” --- Show Coming to the Basque Cultural Center

The “GOAZEN” theatrical dance show that has been touring the Basque Country this past year and a half will be coming to the Basque Cultural Center for their debut in the United States on August 20th and 21st . The show is performed by ten women dancers, who travel the world through dance and costume. The show was produced by the cultural association Zarena Zarelako and was choreographed by Pascale Lazcano of Senpere, Lapurdi. Gerald Hirigoyen honored

On June 30th, BCC member Gerald Hirigoyen was honored by the French Government and received the Knight of Agricultural Merit (Chevalier du Mérite Agricole), which was presented to him by the Consul General Mr. Romain Serman. This award recognizes the hard work of Gerald, who has developed and promoted French and Basque culinary art in the Bay Area. Named best chef in San Fran- cisco several times since 1994 from San Francisco Magazine and the Food and Wine Magazine Gerald is an ambassador of French and Basque culture from his peers in California. The San Mateo County History Museum currently has a Basque Musical Instrument Photo Display, from the collection of Juan Mari Beltran, on exhibit in its rotunda, which will run through August 31st . You can also visit the “Gardeners of Identity: in San Mateo County” located in the Immigrants’ Changing Exhibit Gallery. The museum is located at 2200 Broadway Street, Redwood City, CA and is open Tuesday-Sunday, 10:00am-4:00pm ($5 adult, $3 seniors and students).
