In the first week of our new assignment in mid-July, former Chair of the ICF Board Duane Jacklin and his wife Susan hosted an evening at the Hayden Lake Country Club to introduce Leslee and me to ICF members and others from the area. They also hosted an ICF Kootenai County Awards luncheon at the Post Falls Arts Center named for them. We attended ICF award functions in Priest River and Naples as well. On my way to Boise I attended an ICF Awards Reception in Grangeville. Thus, by the end of the first week we had visited Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai, Benewah, Latah, Nez Perce and Lewis Counties and missed only Shoshone and Clearwater Counties of North Idaho. In late July and early August we were in Boise getting to know the ICF staff and visiting with Treasure Valley members. In early August we were on the road again to Sun Valley and our first ICF Board meeting along with a donor reception in Ketchum. While there we also visited with additional ICF members, friends and nonprofits and had dinner with John Fery and his wife, son, and daughter-in-law (current Board member Sandy Fery) and Alice and Tom Hennessey. It was a great opportunity to learn about ICF. No one knows more about the ICF origins and history than Alice and John. They have been most helpful. Following the events in the Wood River Valley we were on to Eastern Idaho and Idaho Falls. Current and past ICF Board members Mary Lynn and Ralph Hartwell hosted a welcoming reception for us.
