POST-GAME NOTES & QUOTES

Los Angeles Kings (11-18-1) vs. (16-14-1) – Dec. 8, 2018

Kings 1-2-2=5 Golden Knights 1-0-0=1

KINGS HEAD COACH WILLIE DESJARDINS: (RE: TEAM PERFORMACE): “I thought we started the game well. I thought we were playing well. You know, goals haven’t come easy for us, so it was good to get that one; what was great was the specialty teams. I thought our leaders did a great job today. They talked about the power play and killing and we responded with a great effort on the kill today.”

KINGS FORWARD NIKITA SCHERBAK: (RE: PERSONAL PERFORMANCE IN KINGS DEBUT): “That’s probably one of those moments that’s going to stick to my memory for a while, definitely. It’s a great win and it’s happy when we win the games. I think we deserved it. We came out and played hard. All the leaders showed up; great leadership, and it’s fun when you come back in the room and everybody’s happy.”

KINGS DEFENSEMAN DREW DOUGHTY: (RE: TEAM PERFORMANCE): “It was a full 60 minutes. I thought everyone played hard tonight; there wasn’t one guy that took the night off. So, when your team does that, you’re going to win more hockey games. Hopefully we realize that tonight because we need to win more…These guys [Vegas Golden Knights] kicked us out of playoffs last year. Yeah, it’s a new season, but you never forget those types of things. I hope no one on this team ever forgot that. That [last season’s playoff elimination] was definitely one of our things we talked about—they kicked us out, let’s get them back. It’s not getting them back, not even close, but we won, so it’s a start.”

GOLDEN KIGHTS HEAD COACH GERARD GALLANT: (RE: IF THE QUICK TURNAROUND IS GOOD): “We’ll know tomorrow, but I hope so. I really hope so, because it’s going to be a tough game back home against Dallas, and we’ve got to get ready, get some rest tonight and get ready tomorrow.”

GOLDEN KNIGHTS DEFENSEMAN NATE SCHMIDT: (RE: TONIGHT’S PERFORMANCE): “I think we got away from our game a little bit. We’ve done some things in the last two and a half games or so that aren’t us. We’re just trying to make too many things happen. That’s a team; we know them well. You can’t turn pucks over to them. You can’t get into that style game, because that’s what they want. They want you to turn a few pucks over coming into the zone and counter. And I thought we fed their attack.”

GOLDEN KNIGHTS FORWARD OSCAR LINDBERG: (RE: TEAM’S EFFORT): “I thought we came out pretty good the first period, but after that I felt like we kind of faded off. I don’t know why. It just happened.”

KINGS NOTES: • Drew Doughty (0-1=1) registered his team-leading 15th assist of the season in his 800th career NHL game. • (0-2=2) tallied his first multi- game of the season and surpassed 200 total career points. • Derek Forbort (1-1=2) registered his second multi-point game and his first of the season. • Michael Amadio (0-2=2) recorded his first career multi-assist game and third career multi-point game. • Nikita Sherbak (1-0=1) scored his first goal of the season and first goal as a King. • Jonathan Quick stopped 29-of-30 shots to win his second game of the season.
