(Coleoptera : Carabrdae) in the fauna of TUi'kısy In Turkey, cereals are subjected to considerable damage by several pests during growing in the fields 'and Zabrus speoies are one of the major pests of these crops. The author has collected considerable maıterial of the genus Zabrus in various parts of Turkey. Exarnination of these and other materials in the several instjtutıons revealed that same Turkish harmful species of 'Zabrus -are different than that known before and some also known informations about these pests were based on the wrong sources. These were shownand discussed. Iinportant species, identification key, their taxonomic characteristics ıand distributionare given, Zabrus blapoides Creutz.

The systematics of the genusZabrus Clairville, 1806 is currently based on morphological characters that show a high degree of parallelism. The aim of this study is to find new characters in the female genitalia, which give a better understanding of the phylogeny of the genus and result in a new classification based on monophyletic taxa (subgenera and species groups). For this pur pose slides of the whole female reproductive tract were studied under light microscopy and the gonocoxa IX under scanning micro scopy. The study of species belonging to eight subgeneraZabrus, of and of twelve subgenera of its sister taxonAmara, shows that Zabrus is characterised by the lack of a spermatheca. This apomorphy is reported for the first time in carabids, and corroborates the monophyly of the genus in comparison Amara.to A villous canal that is intimatelyjoined to the distal bursa copulatrix was found in both genera and in species of related tribes. This feature could be an apomorphy of the Harpalidae sensu Deuve (1988). However, only inZabrus does the villous canal end in a long falciform head, which is probably another autapomorphy of the genus.

Received: 29 November 2020; Accepted: 11 December 2020; Published: 14 December 2020 Abstract: Changes in the structure of ground beetle communities indicate environmental stability or instability influenced by, e.g., urbanization, agriculture, and forestry. It can affect flight capability and ellipsoid biovolume (EV) of ground beetles. Therefore, we analyzed ground beetles in various habitats. In the course of the period from 2015 to 2017, we recorded in pitfall traps 2379 individuals (1030 males and 1349 females) belonging to 52 species at six localities (two rural, two suburban, two urban). We observed the decrease in the average EV value and morphometric characters (length, height, and width of the body) of ground beetles in the direction of the rural–suburban–urban gradient. Our results also suggest a decrease in EV of apterous and brachypterous species and an increase in macropterous species in the urban and suburban landscapes near agricultural fields.

Abstract An up-to-date checklist of the ground beetles of Sardinia and surrounding islets is presented. The presence on the island of 379 species is confirmed, while 41 are here considered of doubtful occurrence. All endemic elements are indicated and concise information is given on the Italian distribution of each species, together with the chorotype of recurrent pattern of main distribution. Key words: Carabidae, checklist, distribution, chorotypes, endemics, Sardinia, Italian fauna Introduction The first list of the ground beetles of Sardinia was published as an appendix in a paper by Casale and Vigna Taglianti (1996). Such list, with 351 species, was the result of the critical examination of all bibliographical data on Sardinia and especially of the material collected by Italian entomologists during more than thirty years of research trips in mainland Sardinia and its surrounding small islands and archipelagos. The nomenclature and taxonomy of that list followed the “Checklist delle specie della fauna italiana” (Vigna Taglianti 1993), the first attempt to update the list of Italian carabids after Magistretti’s (1965) catalogue.

Most researchers have found the distribution of indicator insects such as carabid beetle at the local community scale; however, a few studies on the distribution of indicator insects in grassland in China. Here, we used Generalized Additive Models (GAM) to predict temperate steppe of northwestern China carabid beetle species richness distribution, and to determine the possible underlying causal factors. Predicted values of beetle richness ranged from 3 to 12. The diversity hotspots are located in the southwest, south and southeast of the study area which have moist environment, the carabid beetle is mainly influenced by temperature and precipitation. The results underline the importance of management and conservation strategies for grassland and also provides evidence for assessing beetle diversity in temperature steppe. Abstract: Beetles are key insect species in global biodiversity and play a significant role in steppe ecosystems. In the temperate steppe of China, the increasing degeneration of the grasslands threatens beetle species and their habitat.

Out of 45 examined adult beetles 19 were parasitized. Morphometric analysis of G. vizri trophozoites and gamonts observed in the digestive tract of host specimens originating from Russian Federation and from Poland showed a significant similarity. Key words: Gregarina vizri Lipa; Apicomplexa; Eugregarinida; cereal ground beetle, Zabrus tenebrioi- des, Coleoptera, Carabidae, Poland, biocontrol agent, INTRODUCTION The eugregarines (Apicomplexa, Eugregarinida), parasitize in the invertebrate digestive systems, including many insects that cause economic damage in agricul- ture, horticulture and forestry. For this reason they are interesting objects not only for taxonomic and faunistic studies
