Speaking at the United Nations Human Rights Council Social Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, on 1 October, to mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Parsons highlighted how sport is one of the best vehicles for promoting human rights. “The practice of sport is itself a human right and it is sport that has a unique unifying power to attract and inspire, bringing together and empowering people of all backgrounds free from discrimination,” said Parsons who used his Almudena Rivera – representative of address to question the stigma still attached to the Spanish media Marca that won the 2017 Paralympic Sport and Media disability.     Revised June 18, 2019 U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veteran Monthly Assistance Allowance for Disabled Veterans Training in Paralympic and Olympic Sports Program (VMAA) In partnership with the United States Olympic Committee and other Olympic and Paralympic entities within the United States, VA supports eligible service and non-service-connected military Veterans in their efforts to represent the USA at the Paralympic Games, Olympic Games and other international sport competitions. The VA Office of National Veterans Sports Programs & Special Events provides a monthly assistance allowance for disabled Veterans training in Paralympic sports, as well as certain disabled Veterans selected for or competing with the national Olympic Team, as authorized by 38 U.S.C. 322(d) and Section 703 of the Veterans’ Benefits Improvement Act of 2008. Through the program, VA will pay a monthly allowance to a Veteran with either a service-connected or non-service-connected disability if the Veteran meets the minimum military standards or higher (i.e. Emerging Athlete or National Team) in his or her respective Paralympic sport at a recognized competition. In addition to making the VMAA standard, an athlete must also be nationally or internationally classified by his or her respective Paralympic sport federation as eligible for Paralympic competition. VA will also pay a monthly allowance to a Veteran with a service-connected disability rated 30 percent or greater by VA who is selected for a national Olympic Team for any month in which the Veteran is competing in any event sanctioned by the National Governing Bodies of the Olympic Sport in the United State, in accordance with P.L.

    Form 14 PLANS REQUIRED TO BE DESIGNED BY AN ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER All plans are required to be signed by a California Registered Engineer or Architect except as follows: 1. Section 5537 of the California Business & Professions Code: Exemptions per Section 5537 of the Business & Professions Code are applicable to building plans that have been designed in accordance with the conventional framing requirements of Chapter 23 of the 2010 edition of California Building Code and tables of limitation for wood frame construction. An unlicensed person may prepare plans, drawings or specifications for the following: • Single family dwelling not more than two stories and basement in height. • Multiple dwellings containing no more than four dwelling units and not more than two stories and basement in height. Also, maximum of four dwelling units on any lot. • Garages or other structures appurtenant to single family dwelling or multiple dwellings not more than two stories and basement in height. • Agricultural and ranch buildings unless the Building Official deems that an undue risk to the public health, safety, or welfare is involved. However, if any portion of any structure exempted by this section deviates from conventional framing requirements for wood frame construction found in Chapter 23 of the 2019 edition of the California Building Code or Chapters 5, 6 and 8 of 2019 California Residential Code, the Building Official may require the preparation of plans, drawings, specifications or calculations for that portion by, or under the direct supervision of, a registered engineer or architect. The documents for that portion shall bear the stamp and signature of the licensee who is responsible for their preparation.
