LANE CLOSURES ON JALAN CHERAS & CHERAS- (GRAND SAGA) HIGHWAY

Kuala Lumpur, 28 February 2013: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) wishes to announce lane closures at the following locations:

i) Cheras-Kajang (Grand Saga) Highway near Bandar Tun Interchange

Part of the left-most lane on the Cheras Kajang (Grand Saga) Highway will be closed for TEN days, for a length of 200 metres from 1 March 2013 to 10 March 2013. This lane closure starts from KM 15.0 - KM 14.9, near Exit 704 of the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn (BTHO) interchange (KL bound). (Please see Map 1 below.)

It is to facilitate utility relocation works for the construction of the MRT alignment near the BTHO interchange.

ii) Cheras Kajang (Grand Saga) Highway near Bukit Dukung Rest Area

Part of the left-most lane on the Cheras Kajang (Grand Saga) Highway from KM 18.0 to KM 18.7 (KL-bound) near the Bukit Dukung Rest Area for a length of 700 metres will be closed for FIVE days from 1 March 2013 to 5 March 2013.

The closure is to facilitate sheet piling works for the construction of the MRT alignment. (Please see Map 2 below.)

A comprehensive traffic management plan has been studied by Grand Saga, and approved by Lembaga Lebuhraya (LLM) to ensure minimal disruption to traffic.

iii) Jalan Cheras at Taman Pertama

Part of the left-most traffic lane on Jalan Cheras, (Kajang-bound) in front of Taman Pertama will undergo a trial closure from 8:00am to 5:00pm for ONE day on 3 March 2013. (Please see Map 3 below.)

This will be for a 35-metre stretch, intended to allow MRT Corp and its contractors to study the impact of the closure on the traffic flow in the area. During this trial closure, traffic personnel will be on site to ensure traffic flow is monitored.

For all closures mentioned, safety barriers, traffic cones and traffic flagman will be implemented to ensure road users are pre-warned of on-going works.
