BIG FISH SWINGIN' A BIG STICK Over his last 36 games, Giancarlo Stanton has turned his season around, batting .314 (44x140) with 10 home runs, 31 RBI, a .377 on-base percentage and .600 slug- ging percentage. That is in stark contrast from the previous 29 games that saw him hit .118 with two home runs, five RBI, a .211 OBP and .216 SLG. - Stats LLC SWEET SWINGIN' LEFTY Christian Yelich has been putting together his finest season since coming to the Majors, batting .320 with 10 home runs, 57 RBI, a .396 on-base percentage and .490 slugging percentage. His average, HR, RBI, OBP and SLG are all career-bests. He needs two doubles to have 30 in each of the last three seasons and become the sixth Marlins player in Franchise history to have three-or-more consecutive seasons of 30+ doubles. Dating back to June 27, 2015, Yelich has the second-highest aver- age among all Major League hitters at .335, behind Jose Altuve (.345). HIT SQUAD Miami leads the National League and ranks second in the Majors with 982 hits, trailing only Boston (1037). The Fish are averaging 9.4 hits a game in 2016, the highest mark in Club history, ahead of the 2007 team that averaged 9.3. The Marlins .272 average as a team again ranks second in MLB to the Red Sox (.288), and would equal 2005 (.272) for the highest single-season team average in Club history. CLIMBING THE LADDER Ichiro Suzuki now has a total of 2,998 hits over his MLB career. On June 15 at San Diego, Ichiro unofficially passed Pete Rose's Major League hit record of 4,256 when combining his 1,278 hits with the Orix Blue Wave of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan. Ichiro is batting .328 (63x192) this season and is two hits away from becom- ing the 30th player in Major League history to record 3,000 hits and tying Roberto Clemente for 29th on MLB's all-time hit list (Elias). In research provided by Stats LLC, he will become just the second player ever to reach 3,000 hits through his first 16 Major League seasons, following Pete Rose, who recorded 3,164.
