“All Chalked Up” Chalked “All View from the ROCK
Slippery University Rock Magazine Fall 2016 “All chalked up” View from the ROCK Dear Friends, I love this time of year when warm evenings melt into cool nights, and the aroma of autumn is in the air; but it’s also hard to say goodbye to summer. The summer of 2016 will be remembered as one of the busiest construction seasons on record at Slippery Rock University. Jackhammers, excavators and demolition crews were a common sight as crews worked diligently to renovate academic buildings, athletic fields and residence halls prior to the start of the fall semester. All of the work was scheduled with an eye toward modernizing academic learning environments and improving the appearance and function of buildings and campus. By the time classes resumed Aug. 29, $6.5 million in improvements had been completed. Major projects included a new entryway for Rhoads Hall; the demolition and reconstruction of the south wall at Spotts World Culture Building; the removal and resurfacing of the outdoor track at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium; and a pair of projects at Morrow Field House that included refinishing the basketball/ volleyball court and a roof replacement. In a continuing effort to extend our commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion, we converted more than 70 single- occupancy restrooms to all-gender restrooms. We also FALL 2016 Volume 18, Number 3 launched the Physician Assistant Program; opened the renovated Harrisville building and welcomed the Pokémon craze to campus. We were honored this summer to receive a number of In this issue national, regional and state awards for academic quality, value and sustainability among others. -

L1 LINDORIGINALS 433 6 Oktober 2013 Arnold Rypens
L1 LINDORIGINALS 433 6 oktober 2013 Arnold Rypens - Kirsten 3:16 1 Till I'm Too Old To Die Young (Welch) Curb MOE BANDY YT Dit zijn The Originals bij L1 Radio met Moe Bandy in 1987 en de oudste Till I'm Too Old To Die Young. -
Murder Upon Murder
Murder Upon Murder Patricia Rose McKown Schuelke Primary Thesis Sponsor Dr. Elissa Harbert First Reader Dr. Andrea Sununu Second Reader Dr. Kerry Jennings DePauw University Honor Scholar Program Class of 2020 Acknowledgement and Dedication Thank you to my committee, Dr. Elissa Harbert, Dr. Andrea Sununu, and Dr. Kerry Jennings, my cast and crew, Suzette Hartsfield, Noelle Johnson, Genevieve Miedema, Serenna Jones, Anna Roth, Melanie Roma, Jonathon Tebbe, Sarah Hennessy, and Eric Boylan, my family, and Jules Shinkle for your support. This is dedicated to you. 1 Table of Contents Creative Statement…………………………. 3 Murder Upon Murder: live version……….. 21 Murder Upon Murder: remote version…… 75 2 Creative Statement Introduction Writing and producing this play became a much more intense experience than I ever expected. I first conceptualized the project last spring as a traditional academic thesis that would cover popular culture’s fascination with murder ballads through lenses I discovered in my Honor Scholar classes like human evolution and religion. This summer, I realized I wanted to reach a general audience with the project and that I wanted to work in public musicology as a career. My 2019 play Somber and Wild interested an audience outside the School of Music and even outside of DePauw, so I felt confident that a play could attract the audience I wanted to entertain and educate. When fall came, it was clear that a play would suit my artistic and career goals better than a traditional paper. “Down in the Willow Garden” from Mike Block’s album Final Night at Camp was the first murder ballad that I ever noticed. -

LINDA RONSTADT 30 Unsterbliche Songs Der Fantastischen Sängerin Aus Fast Drei Dekaden Auf Zwei Cds! Ab 21
