Tel. 8377 3500 www.coreywingard.com @Corey_Wingard Transport and Road Safety Forums LOCAL Last year I was pleased to host Opposition Leader Steven ISSUES Marshall for a Transport and Road Safety Forum in Old Reynella. The event was very well attended and followed an earlier Transport forum I held for residents in Sheidow Park and Trott Park. These community events later prompted an additional two community meetings in Sturt and Darlington about the Southern Expressway Noise Wall. I am pleased to report that these meetings attracted a staff member from the Minister’s office as well as representatives from the Expressway’s Project Team and resulted in the Department committing to covering the back of the noise wall, Sturt / Darlington Community Meeting improving the landscaping along residential areas and agreeing to a number of other community requests.

Contact my office or visit my website for more detail on any of these issues... Sheidow Park Toilet Block & Trott Park Dog Park I have secured $100,000 for each project from the State Government. The projects will be managed by the City of Marion and I will now work with council to ensure these facilities are delivered. Noise Wall at Sturt & Darlington I successfully negotiated a colour bond fence to be erected on the residential side of the Southern Expressway noise wall and a commitment for landscaping and revegetating in line with resident’s requests. The Government have so far failed to meet their own deadlines for this work but I will continue to hold them to account and have regular contact with the Southern Expressway project team. Patritti Wines main road signage I called on the Government to reverse their decision to not replace tourism signage to this historical winery in Dover Gardens. A new sign has now been installed. Oaklands Train Station Toilets Responding to constituent requests, I lobbied the Government to extend the opening hours so that they are now available to use on weekends. DCSI Checks

Ensuring our children and vulnerable community members are safe while in the care of the wider community is absolutely essential and I support preventative checks and balances by Government to ensure this is the case. However, the current process by which the State Government is providing these checks and balances is questionable and many responsible and professional workers are being penalised because of a long administrative maze of applications and paperwork. If you have had to stop work while waiting for your determination or are Seaview High School Leadership Dinner at Parliament House experiencing a lengthy delay, please contact my office so that I can be of assistance. Schools and Education

I have thoroughly enjoyed my involvement with all the schools in the community. Having two of my children at primary school age it was delightful to attend most of the graduation ceremonies in the electorate last year. It was a true pleasure to witness young people I have watched grow up through sports or family associations celebrate their primary education as they transition into High School. Likewise it’s been a pleasure to work with staff and students at Seaview High School and I look forward to continuing that into the future. A number of people have asked me for an update on the disused O’Halloran Hill Tafe site. I met with council and some Department officials there recently. I have a meeting planned with the Minister for Planning for a more in-depth briefing in the coming weeks. I’m told the property will be put on the market later this year. It is zoned “education” which will limit the interest but I will keep you updated. If you have any thoughts on what the facility could be used for, please contact my official and leave your details and ideas.

Fighting to save Flinders Medical Centre and Neonatal STATE Intensive Care Unit ISSUES As a parent of a child who received first class care from the wonderful team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Flinders Medical Centre I have been very outspoken about keeping the top level of care at Flinders NICU for the benefit of all families in Adelaide’s southern suburbs. The closure of Flinders NICU is a breach of clear and repeated commitments by the Weatherill Labor Government. On 20 February 2014, prior to the election Premier Weatherill declared: “Labor will re-develop the neonatal unit at Flinders Medical Centre to make sure our sickest babies get the best possible care.” The Labor Government now plans to transport around 200 sick Closing Noarlunga babies a year from Flinders to the city for treatment. From firsthand experience I know this will be incredibly stressful for parents at a Emergency Department very traumatic time and it will also mean some mothers and fathers in the south will have to travel up to 100km per day round trip to Premier Weatherill and Health Minister Snelling have visit their newborns in hospital. announced that they will: It is very important we keep making our voices heard about this • CLOSE the Emergency Department at the Noarlunga Hospital; move by the Weatherill Labor Government because if this top level • CUT the Emergency Departments at the QEH and Modbury care is removed from the Flinders NICU it will be very difficult to get Hospital; it back. • CLOSE the Daw Park Repatriation General Hospital; • CLOSE the Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre; and Save the Repat Petition

The State Government has announced devastating cuts to our health system. WHAT THIS DECISION MEANS FOR YOU:

The Emergency Department at the Noarlunga Hospital will close - This will force patients from further south to use the Flinders Medical Centre, a hospital that is already struggling with overcrowding and ambulance ramping.

The Repatriation General Hospital at Daw Park will close - This will extend current waitlists at the Flinders Medical Centre and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Patients will wait longer for medical care. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Flinders Medical EMERGENCY Centre will be downgraded - This means families will need to travel further to receive care for their sick babies and will increase risks.
