TCHS SCHOLARSHIP BULLETIN March 2020 All scholarship applications and instructions can be picked up in Ms. Jones office, A126 Tejas Bluebonnet Trails Chapter Deadline: March 6, 2020 The Colonial Dames XVII Century Tejas Bluebonnet Trails Chapter is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior who will attend Galveston College, College of the Mainland, or San Jacinto College. Hope Scholarship Deadline: March 17, 2020 Project Joy and Hope proudly continues its mission to provide college scholarship to students throughout our state who value education, believe in service to others, and have worked hard to overcome obstacles as they complete their high school careers. Eligibility: To be eligible for a 2020 HOPE SCHOLARSHIP, student must have experienced a death of a parent or a sibling. Texas City Rotary Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Deadline: March 20, 2020 The Rotary Club of Texas City offers scholarships through their local Rotary Foundation including a Memorial Scholarship in honor of Lee and Ellen Owens and the Frank Webb Foundation to students based on their financial need, academic and extracurricular/service activities. Scholarships range from one-time $2000 to renewable awards for $2,000 for up to five years based on criteria from the Texas City Rotary Club. Students with family members in the Rotary Club of Texas City do not qualify. City of Houston Scholarship Contest Deadline: March 23, 2020 High school seniors in the Greater Houston Area scholarships. First prize: $2000, Second Prize $1,200 Third $800, Honorable Mention $500 (2x) Mainland Retired Teachers Association Scholarships Deadline: March 31, 2020 This $500 scholarship is for students from the Mainland (Texas City, La Marque, Hitchcock, Santa Fe, Dickinson) who are interested in becoming teachers at any level, K-12. Lee and Sarah Giles Scholarship Deadline: April 1, 2020 Scholarships will be presented annually in the amount of $500 during the Fall and Spring semesters. Welding Club Application Deadline: April 1, 2020 Texas City Jaycees 2020 Scholarship Program Deadline: April 1, 2020 Texas City Jaycees 2020 Scholarship Program will offer (4) $1000 scholarships to Texas City High School and LaMarque High School. Two scholarships will be awarded to each campus. “Christy’s Wish” Memorial Scholarship Fund Deadline: April 2, 2020 This scholarship has been set up in memorial of Christy Crow, Friendswood High School Alum 12, after her untimely passing in 2014. The Crow family created this scholarship to honor a student who will be actively pursuing a degree in Education. Doyle LEADS Scholarship LEADS (Leadership Education and Development Series) has impacted thousands of students from area high schools in Galveston County since its inception in 2000. Mr. Charles T. Doyle in 2014 renewed his pledge for another ten years to continue financial support of the LEADS program. A portion of the funds provided by LEADS has been set aside to recognize students who have demonstrated a high level of leadership and community service. This scholarship will award $2,000 to the selected student who is among the top 5% of the graduating seniors each year from Texas City High School or La Marque High School. The award will be setup in a scholarship fund to support further education for the student. An additional $500 will be awarded to the teacher of the awarded student that is recognized at the Annual Principal’s Honors Breakfast Jimmy Hayley Memorial Scholarship The Jimmy Hayley Memorial Scholarship was established in 2016 by Jane Hayley and sons Jerry and Jason. Through this scholarship, we remember Jimmy’s passion for the Texas City-La Marque communities and the life-long service he provided as a community leader. Jimmy showed that relationships and service were vital to the success of community growth and exemplified these principals in his everyday life. VISION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP: It is the intent of this scholarship to recognize graduating seniors from Texas City High School and La Marque High School for their community service and who have a financial need to further their education at a junior college, technical school or community college. Students should possess a good GPA during high school that represents a commitment to their education. Lee Scoggins Memorial Scholarship The Lee Scoggins Memorial Scholarship Fund was originally conceived in 2006 by Howard Scoggins and his children Wally Scoggins, Tracy Pfisterer, and Sherry Griesen. Through this scholarship, we remember Lee’s passion for life, her journey and growth through art, the community of artists who touched her life, and her belief in the extraordinary talents and treasures within everyone. Her family provides this gift in recognition of her artistic talent, her dedication, and unending wish to always encourage and share with others those gifts that blessed and enriched her life. VISIONS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP: To recognize and encourage high school students who have demonstrated desire and creative talent in the visual arts and financially need assistance to pursue their interests in this field. The Noon Optimist Club of Texas City Scholarship VISION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP To recognize and encourage high school students who have demonstrated good academics, a willingness to continue an education with a college, university, technical school, or other school deemed appropriate for the student’s continued education, and demonstrates a need for financial assistance. TCHS Class of 1989 Legacy Scholarship The Texas City High School Class of 1989 Legacy Scholarship was established to honor and memorialize classmates who are no longer with us. These individuals left a legacy not only at the high school but in the world. The Legacy Scholarship will award at least one graduating senior who has made a positive impact in their school, in the community, and in the lives of others with a one-time scholarship of $500. Student View Scholarship Program Deadline: April 22, 2020 The 2020 Student View Scholarship Program is offering $12,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. Awards: (1) $5000 (1) $1000 (10) $500 The Huntington Scholarship Deadline: April 30, 2020 Galveston County Rancher’s Association Deadline: May 15, 2020 The Galveston County Rancher’s Association (GCRA) provides scholarships for outstanding students of Galveston County. The student must be a member of the Texas FFA or a Texas 4-H Club. Recipients will be determined based on need, scholastic ability, leadership, citizenship, and participation in 4-H or FFA activities.
