Ludwig L2004 Special Edition

In celebration of their 95th Anniversary, Ludwig® has introduced a new Special Edition Snare Drum. Beautifully finished in a rich cherry stain, the L2004 features a solid 100% maple shell with reinforcement rings. Brass single flange batter and snare hoops recreate the look of a Ludwig snare drum from the 1920's. To complete the look and function, the drum is fitted with ten all brass vintage styled tube lugs along with Ludwig brass die-cast claw hooks to supply secure and accurate tension.

"Vintage styled products are very popular today” states Jim Catalano, Director of Ludwig/Musser Marketing. “Ludwig has been making drums since 1909 and this snare drum is similar to models made in an early era of our company. However, we couple the look of yesteryear with the function and technology of today to make a great snare drum for the collector with the performance and sound qualities demanded by today’s performing percussionists." The unique Ludwig Millennium P86 snare strainer and corresponding P33 butt plate are both brass plated. They combine with Pure Sound® 16-strand brass wire snares to provide for an exceptional snare response. A ® Renaissance batter head is standard while the snare side features Ludwig's Weather Master Resonant head. A vintage styled oval badge displays the Ludwig Trade Mark and Monroe, North Carolina USA designation. An additional limited edition badge features the Wm. F. Ludwig II printed signature along with an exclusive, engraved serial number.

"The vintage styling and serial number on this special edition snare drum will keep it a valued collectors item for many years to follow" Catalano continues. “In addition, more than just a collector’s item, this snare is sensitive and responsive to the touch with the exceptional tonal qualities that helped make Ludwig famous.”

Each L2004 includes a deluxe wooden case wrapped in a durable and attractive leather-like material. Trimmed with a contrasting leather-like edging, each case is also fitted with brass trim, latches, and hinge. A soft brown plush lining adds beauty while protecting the drum from the outside world.

The Ludwig L2004 Special Edition Snare Drum has a suggested retail price in the USA of $1,595 and is available through authorized Ludwig dealers.
