General Business:

1. North Bendalong Headland Redevelopment

RHVA through Justin Field and Peter Hudson made representations on behalf of the association at a number of council meetings where this issue was discussed. At all time the effort was working toward getting a good long-term outcome for the headland and opposing aspects that were outside of the limits of the LEP. • The development has now been approved by council • The Height of Building issues were mostly addressed with one cabin being removed and all but two coming down to the local environment plan limit. • 15 car parks in total with a maximum 24 overnight occupants. • The kiosk and multi-purpose area will have operating hour and number of persons limits • RHVA's and residents'submissions were given due consideration by council and councilors thanked the committee for its work with the council and developer on this issue.

2. Dredging Proposal

There is still a lack of clarity about the timing of the dredging project and whether or not spoil will be de-watered or transported through our villages.

Advertisements have appeared in local papers calling for tenders for the dredging. There are some rumors some sand may be used to nourish Bendalong Boat Ramp.

More information will be sought from council and shared on the facebook page and website.

The Conjola Community Consultative Committee has more information here

Red Head Villages Association, Executive Meeting Minutes, 6 July 2015 p2

3. Skatepark

Kevin Millar gave a short presentation about his experience in getting the skate park to fruition. • Official opening was on Thursday 2nd July with Ann Sudmalis MP • Southern Man surf shop donated prizes for the day • A youth management group of 6 local youth, with the oldest being 16, was the committee that Kevin worked with to get the project up. • Kevin acknowledged the good work of Susan Edwards, Infrastructure Manager, Shoalhaven City Council, for her work.

Several people noted how positive the park has been and how well it is being used.

Kevin also noted that Ann Sudmalis has committed to getting a BBQ and permanent seating installed at the site.

Justin Field moved a vote of thanks to Kevin for his work that was supported by acclamation.

Margaret Rasmussen moved that a letter be sent to all 6 on the management committee congratulating them on their endeavours. It was noted that the letter could be added to their student resumes. This was supported by consensus.

Action: Robyn Ralph to write a letter to each member of the management committee congratulating them on their efforts in driving and managing this successful community project.

4. Cycleway/walkway

The bridge is on site and engineering work has been progressing. When it is completed, RHVA will try to organize an opening event with media.

It was noted that RHVA members need to start thinking about ways to raise money for the pathway work.

It was noted that the Association wasn’t successful with the IRT Grant application previously submitted. Justin Field proposed that the Association make an application under the NSW Community Building Partnerships Grants, that was supported by consensus.

Red Head Villages Association, Executive Meeting Minutes, 6 July 2015 p3

5. Community Noticeboard

Justin Field moved a vote of thanks to Larraine Larri, Simon Barton and Michael Chadwick for their work on this project that was supported by acclamation.

Larraine Larri reported on her experience and complimented the members for giving her such positive feedback in the consultation phase. She noted it is there for all the community to use and it is already being well used. She noted that she did an interview with Trish Duffield on 2ST about the project.

6. Kylor

Justin Field reported on the status of the project. For more information see the RHVA website here. Justin recommended a sub-committee be formed, once submissions are able to be made, to deal with the issues and scientific reports associated with the proposed re-zoning.

Larraine Larri mentioned and the negative impact of large scale development on the environment and indigenous cultural sites.

Suzanne Vasuitis-White suggested RHVA will need to be vigilant with the consultants' reports

7. Other Infrastructure Priorities

Justin Field noted that a list of infrastructure priorities have been previously sent to council including the cycleway/walking track, parking areas at the beache, Yulunga playground, Berringer and Bendalong boat ramps.

Carlie Cash raised concerns about the car park entrances at Back Beach near the caravan park and Dee Beach

Kevin Millar noted that Robyn Ralph, Mick Cvetkovic and he met with Shelley Hancock on 11th March at Bendalong to discuss the erosion of the main boat ramp and other infrastructure needs in the area of the reserve. Kevin has since spoken with Ray Edwards, Lands Department, Nowra about the issue and noted that there may be opportunities to direct money from the Caravan Park’s profits to this area. Carlie Cash raised the issue of the possibility of clean up bags being provided for dog owners now that new signs related to the regulations for walking a dog have been erected at Bendalong. It was noted that Currarong has such facilities and is within the SCC area.

Action: Gary Barton agree to look into how Currarong achieved this facility

Red Head Villages Association, Executive Meeting Minutes, 6 July 2015 p4

Dorothy King expressed concern regarding an area between the oval and the cleared block at the eastern end of The Palisade - long grass anda dangerous tree

Action: Robyn Ralph will contact Steve Butel, President of the Yulunga Reserve Committee regarding this issue

Peter King expressed concern about the condition of the Bendalong Road surface. Justin Field assured Peter that regular approaches are made to council concerning the deterioration of the road surface

Jenny Cleary voiced her concerns about the number of surf schools appearing at local beaches . There appears to be no council guidelines related to such small businesses and that these public facilities are being used for commercial gain.

Action: Jenny Cleary will contact council regarding this matter and report back to the next meeting

Other Business:

1. Trivia Night. Jenny Cleary proposed RHVA hold a trivia night in Sept/Oct as a community event. She will plan the evening which will be a non profit event with a cash prize taken from a gold coin entry fee. This was supported by consensus.

2. Bendalong Mountain Road. Kevin Millar noted concern regarding notices of the closure/locking of the top Bendalong Mountain Road. It was understood within the community that this was an important secondary fire exit from the area.

Action: Robyn Ralph to send an email to council requesting a response to these concerns.

Next Executive Meeting will be held on Monday 7th September at 6.00pm at Yulunga Hall Manyana. All members are welcome to attend.

The final meeting for 2015 is Monday 2nd November.

Meeting Closed: 7.45 pm
