FOX NASCAR at Atlanta Motor Speedway Quotes & Programming FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Megan Englehart Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 [email protected] FOX NASCAR AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY QUOTES & PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES Live on FOX Sunday; NASCAR XFINITY & CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES Doubleheader Live on FS1 Saturday from Atlanta Dillon, Childress & Crew in NASCAR Race Hub Studio Tonight with Young Fan Who Gave Dillon the Lucky Penny Before the Daytona 500 Charlotte, N.C. -- NASCAR heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend for the second race of the season and a unique doubleheader on Saturday, with FOX Sports set to offer 23.5 hours of live action from the 1.5-mile oval. Below are programming information and quotes from FOX NASCAR analysts Larry McReynolds, Darrell Waltrip and Regan Smith, plus NASCAR RACE HUB driver analyst Kevin Harvick, on the week’s storylines and the weekend ahead. NASCAR RACE HUB PROGRAMMING NOTE: On tonight’s NASCAR RACE HUB (6:00 PM ET on FS1), Daytona 500 champions Austin Dillon, Richard Childress, crew chief Justin Alexander, RCR VP of Competition Andy Petree and Dillon’s spotter, Andy Houston, are in the studio. Also joining the RCR team is Jordan Wade, the young fan who gave Dillon the “lucky penny” that Dillon glued to his No. 3 Chevrolet’s dashboard prior to the start of the DAYTONA 500. In addition, NASCAR RACE HUB goes behind-the-scenes of RCR’s victory lunch at the Welcome, N.C. race shop on Wednesday, capturing the moment Wade surprised Dillon at the event. MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES • Date/Time: Sunday, Feb. 25 (2:00 PM ET) • Network: FOX • Announcers: Mike Joy, Hall of Famer and three-time champion Darrell Waltrip, four-time champ Jeff Gordon and Larry McReynolds • Pit reporters: Jamie Little, Vince Welch and Matt Yocum • Pre-race: MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP PRE-RACE (1:30 PM ET on FOX); hosted by Chris Myers with Michael Waltrip, Gordon and Darrell Waltrip • NASCAR RACEDAY (12:30 PM ET on FS1): a Shannon Spake sit-down with Bill and Chase Elliott; an Austin Dillon feature reflecting on his Daytona 500 victory; a live interview with Richard Childress; a “Where’s Wallace” segment with Kenny Wallace; and live interviews with Jimmie Johnson and Bubba Wallace • Hosts: Chris Myers and Michael Waltrip NASCAR XFINITY SERIES • Date/Time: Saturday, Feb. 24 (2:00 PM ET) • Network: FS1 • Announcers: Adam Alexander, Michael Waltrip and driver analyst Chase Elliott • Pit reporters: Jamie Little and Regan Smith • Pre-race: NASCAR RACEDAY-XFINITY (1:30 PM ET on FS1); hosted by Shannon Spake and Larry McReynolds • Hosts: Spake and McReynolds NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES • Date/Time: Saturday, Feb. 24 (4:30 PM ET) • Network: FS1 • Announcers: Vince Welch, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip • Pit reporters: Hermie Sadler and Alan Cavanna • Post-race: 6:30-7:00 PM (FS1) FOX NASCAR QUOTES How far can the momentum of Bubba Wallace’s second-place finish in the Daytona 500 carry him? “Right now they need sponsorship to make the season, and when you look at what they did in the Daytona 500, they are well on their way to doing that but they have to allow the driver to focus on what he needs to focus on now and not wear him out.” --Kevin Harvick on FS1’s NASCAR RACE HUB What will you be watching for this weekend at Atlanta? “I think we could see an excessive number of speeding penalties with teams putting pressure on the driver to get in and get out of the pits and help them out with track position.” --Darrell Waltrip “If there’s any race that a driver finds out right out of the box if he’s in shape or not, it’s Atlanta. You’re up on the wheel, sawing on it all day long, and it’s exhausting. There will be some tired drivers on Sunday.” --Regan Smith Once a driver wins a race and qualifies for the playoffs, how does he manage the remainder of the season? “When we won our Daytona 500 (in 2007), we didn’t win another points-paying race for the whole year. Winning the Daytona 500 can make your whole year. It almost doesn’t matter what you do the rest of the year. You obviously want to go out and win and continue the momentum you have, but even if you don’t, you still are the Daytona 500 champion for that year.” --Kevin Harvick on FS1’s NASCAR RACE HUB “I’ve seen both ends of the spectrum. In 1992, when we won with Davey (Allison) and the No. 28 car, it was like we could do no wrong. We were winning and getting top-fives every single week. We won it in 1998 with Dale Earnhardt in the No. 3 car, we looked like we didn’t even know how to load the car in the hauler the next week.” --Larry McReynolds What do you think of Andy Petree’s contributions as the new VP of Competition at RCR? “One man does not carry a magic wand, but I really believe Andy is going to make a difference at Richard Childress Racing. Even before the Daytona 500 win, I think we started seeing it at the end of last season when he was doing some consulting work for RCR.” --Larry McReynolds FOX NASCAR AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE (All times live/Eastern unless otherwise indicated & subject to change) Friday, Feb. 23 MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES practice (11:30 AM-1:00 PM) (FS1) NASCAR XFINITY SERIES practice (1:00-2:00 PM) (FS1) NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES practice (2:00-3:00 PM) (FS1) NASCAR XFINITY SERIES final practice (3:00-4:00 PM) (FS1) NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES final practice (4:00-5:00 PM) (FS1) MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES qualifying (5:00-6:30 PM) (FS1) Saturday, Feb. 24 NASCAR XFINITY SERIES qualifying (9:00-10:30 AM) (FS1) NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES qualifying (10:30 AM-12:00 PM) (FS1) MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES final practice (12:00-1:30 PM) (FS1) NASCAR RACEDAY-XFINITY (1:30-2:00 PM) (FS1) NASCAR XFINITY SERIES Racing (2:00-4:30 PM) (FS1) NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES Racing (4:30-6:30 PM) (FS1) NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES post-race (6:30-7:00 PM) (FS1) Sunday, Feb. 25 NASCAR RACEDAY (12:30-1:30 PM) (FS1) MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP PRE-RACE (1:30-2:00 PM) (FOX) MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES Racing (2:00-6:00 PM) (FOX) About FOX NASCAR: FOX Sports, broadcasting its 18th consecutive MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES season, is armed with seven championships’ worth of analysis and insight from Hall of Famer and three-time champ Darrell Waltrip alongside four-time champion Jeff Gordon, veteran play-by-play announcer Mike Joy and former crew chief Larry McReynolds with race analysis. • NASCAR Sponsorship: Who Is the Real Winner? an Event Study Proposal
NASCAR Sponsorship: Who is the Real Winner? An event study proposal A thesis submitted to the Miami University Honors Program in partial fulfillment of the requirements for University Honors with Distinction by Meredith Seurkamp May 2006 Oxford, Ohio ii ABSTRACT NASCAR Sponsorship: Who is the Real Winner? An event study proposal by Meredith Seurkamp This paper investigates the costs and benefits of NASCAR sponsorship. Sports sponsorship is increasing in popularity as marketers attempt to build more personal relationships with their consumers. These sponsorships range from athlete endorsements to the sponsorship of an event or physical venue. These types of sponsorships have a number of costs and benefits, as reviewed in this paper, and the individual firm must use its discretion whether sports sponsorship coincides with its marketing goals. NASCAR, a sport that has experienced a recent boom in popularity, is one of the most lucrative sponsorship venues in professional sports. NASCAR, which began as a single race in 1936, now claims seventy-five million fans and over one hundred FORTUNE 500 companies as sponsors. NASCAR offers a wide variety of sponsorship opportunities, such as driver sponsorship, event sponsorship, track signage, and a number of other options. This paper investigates the fan base at which these marketing messages are directed. Research of NASCAR fans indicates that these fans are typically more brand loyal than the average consumer. NASCAR fans exhibit particular loyalty to NASCAR sponsors that financially support the auto racing sport. The paper further explains who composes the NASCAR fan base and how NASCAR looks to expand into additional markets.

  • ADAM STEVENS: Crew Chief Biography
ADAM STEVENS: Crew Chief Biography Birthdate: 7/22/78 Hometown: Portsmouth, Ohio Residence: Huntersville, North Carolina Marital Status: Married to Aubrey Children: Carter and Ryan In just five seasons as a full-time NASCAR Cup Series crew chief, Adam Stevens has certainly etched his name into the record books as one-half of the most formidable driver-and-crew chief combinations the sport has ever seen. The 41-year-old native of Portsmouth, Ohio, first joined forces with Kyle Busch and the No. 18 M&M’S/Interstate Batteries Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) at the start of the 2015 Cup Series season and, in the relatively short time since, has led all competitors with two series championships and 27 victories in 169 races together through the 2019 campaign. Stevens and Busch clinched their second Cup Series title together at the most reason Championship 4 season finale last November at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where Busch led a race-high 120 laps and crossed the finish line a comfortable 4.5 seconds ahead of his JGR teammate Martin Truex Jr. Coupled with their 2015 championship together, Stevens became just the 15th crew chief in Cup Series history to win multiple championships, tying him with a virtual who’s who of history-making crew chiefs including Greg Zipadelli, Jeff Hammond, Andy Petree, Tim Brewer and Smokey Yunick with two titles apiece. Stevens’ and Busch’s 27 wins together is the most during the last five Cup Series seasons, the next-closest duo being driver Kevin Harvick and crew chief Rodney Childers, who won 21 races in that time and 26 wins together since their first and only championship season in 2014.
