(Automobiles) Nineteen photographs of vintage automobiles in the San Francisco Bay Area. 16 are 12.5x18 cm. (5x7”), 2 are 19.5x24.5 cm. (7¾x9½”). San Francisco: c.1920s Classic cars of the roaring ‘20s. Very good or better condition. (400/600) 4. (Automobiles) Saxon Days (wrapper title). 32 pp. incl. wrappers. Illustrated from photographs etc. 23x15 cm. (9x6”), color pictorial wrappers. Detroit, MI: Saxon Motor Car Corporation, 1915 Booklet extolling the virtues of Saxon automobiles. The Saxon Motor Car Company operated from 1914 to 1922. In 1917 28,000 cars were built, making it the seventh largest car maker in the United States. “How many cars on the market could be cranked and driven in perfect safety by an eight-year old child?” OCLC/WorldCat lists only one record, at the University of Oregon Library. A little foxing and wear to wrappers; very good. (250/350) 5. (Automobiles) 20,800 miles in 100 days by a Chalmers Detroit “30” (wrapper title). [8] pp. Illustrations from photographs. 20.5x13.5 cm. (8x5½”). Detroit, MI: Joseph Mack Print. House, 1909 “18.06 miles per gallon of gasoline for 20,800 miles; 100 days continuous running; all kinds of weather conditions; all sorts of roads.” The Chalmers Detroit cars were built in 1909 and 1910. The Chalmers Detroit won 69 major automotive competitions in 1909 and 1910. The Chalmers Detroit “30” was the winner of the 2,851 mile 1910 Glidden Tour. This was the first major competition won by the automobile costing less than $4,000. OCLC/WorldCat lists only one copy, at the Library of Michigan. A little soiling and wear, very good. (300/500) 6. (7x4”), brown cloth lettered in gilt. San Francisco: Compiled and Published by Geo. W. Blum, 1896 [copyright 1895] Scarce little cycling guide, with distance tables, club directory, advice on proper dress, and many advertisements, both for cycles and cycling supplies, and for establishments at which to eat and sleep while on a junket.
