FACT SHEET Eastside Trail Extension EXTENDING THE REACH OF THE EASTSIDE TRAIL

PROJECT OVERVIEW The first phase of the Eastside Trail extension began in 2016, and will take the trail from Irwin Street / Lake Avenue to Kirkwood Avenue, thus adding about 1.25 miles to the popular multi-use trail. Construction of a second phase reaching Memorial Drive includes replacing the bridge at Fulton Terrace, and will commence when funding is available. Once the southern extension is completed to Memorial Drive, the Eastside Trail will be a 3.5-mile trail extending from south to Reynoldstown. QUICK FACTS Phase 1 of this infrastructure investment in southeast is scheduled for completion in mid-2017:

• 10-foot to 14-foot wide multi-use trail with 5 ADA-accessible access points • Integrated lighting and safety infrastructure including video cameras with direct connections to APD’s Video Integration Center (VIC) • Streetscape improvements to Wylie Street will include a tree lined 10-foot- wide trail with pedestrian scale lighting, and a landscape buffer on the north side of the road • Installation of a pedestrian scramble at the intersection of DeKalb Avenueand Krog Street to safely accommodate increased bike and pedestrian traffic • Phase 1 will feature eight improved at-grade crosswalks accessing the trail • Phase 2 (awaiting additional funding) will include an additional ADA access point, improvements to the crosswalks at Memorial Drive and Bill Kennedy Way, and replacement of the bridge at Fulton Terrace • Pedestrian-activated signal crossing and speed table installed at Irwin Street PROJECT AREA The two phases of the 1.25-mile segment will extend the Atlanta BeltLine to Memorial Drive in southeast Atlanta:

• North end of the extension begins at Irwin Street & Lake Avenue • North end of the extension connects with the existing Eastside Trail, which continues to Piedmont Park • South end of phase 1 begins in Reynoldstown north of Fulton Terrace • South end of phase 2 (awaiting additional funding) begins at Memorial Drive and Bill Kennedy Way • The /Reynoldstown MARTA rail station is a few short blocks from the midpoint of the extension
