Cold war kids love is mystical Continue In the first months of the year it is difficult to forget about Valentine's Day, the day of celebration of this perfect love. Romantic comedies are on the rise, and Hallmark's son cards are bought by handfuls. February 14 was a day that almost romanticizes romance and love. The idea of what perfect love should be is exaggerated to the point that it now seems that it is the only way to love. Love Is Mystical, the anthem of Cold War Kids from their upcoming album L.A. Divine (4/7/2017 via Capitol Records), immerses itself in this concept of perfect love and what it does to you. Listen: Love Mystical - Cold War Kids Love mystical begins with the classic power and instrumental rage that Cold War Kids are known for. The power of relentless rhythm does a fantastic job of mixing the song's music with its meaning. Generally, songs around love are slower, performed in a ballad-like style. Love's mystical opening lines make it frankly obvious that this is not your typical love song. The recurring 'woo hoos' that color chorus is extremely catchy; listeners will have it stuck in their heads all day. And when my heart doesn't break the empty space between my lungs and when my knees won't shake, I'll drink to find inspiration because I'm a red-blooded person, but I can't see beyond the sun the supernatural plan goes to meet me now living life without having to slow down Something happens when I rely on my error texts to match the instrumental, and nothing but ordinary. Vocalist Nathan Willett sings about the struggles that come with the relationship. The media portray love to be the salvation of life: Being in love or being in a relationship should be easy, and something that everyone should strive for. Love Mystical is a song that defies what the public should believe. Cold War Kids does an exceptional job putting the truth of these feelings on the table. Teh move backwards in everything reminiscent of Coldplay's Scientist music video. It depicts going through your relationship, right to the beginning of it. Characters think about what happened, trying to find the point where the relationship started to get tough. Paired with the texts, the video suggests that the main character wants to fix problems that have occurred in the past. No matter what your plans for Valentine's Day, Love Mystical should be in your playlist. The song Cold War Kids is raw and shares a strong truth about any relationship. There are ups and downs and sometimes you may not know how to recover from them. The North American Tour cold war kids kick off in March (dates below), and their upcoming sixth studio album, L.A. Divine, will be released April 7 on Capitol Records. Love Is Mystical is a song by American indie rock band Cold War Kids. It is the lead single from their sixth album L.A. Divine (2017) and was released on February 2, 2017. Love Is Mystical peaked at number two on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. The music video was made for the single and was released on February 2, 2017. Song Information Song was inspired by a book called Falling Upward by Richard Rohr, a Franciscan monk. He was supposed to capture Willett's relationship with Los Angeles, and he argues, LA has become the background and how to be an artist in entertainment, being in a grounded relationship, just like being dragged in two different directions. In addition, the search for spiritual and creative satisfaction and life in a materialistic, image-based city can pull you in two directions. The critical reception of Love Is Mystical received positive reviews. Exclaim! called him a stomping one. The Sound investigation described it as an optimistic single with a lead, crossed by a stomping piano. NME claims that the song brings to new heights the incendiary and soulful hymns of the band. The music video clip was uploaded to the VEVO group page on February 2, 2017. It was filmed in downtown Los Angeles at St. Vincent Court, directed by Philippe Lopez and choreographer Amy Gardner. In many ways, “Peace Sells” was a standard pro- motional video, full of lip-synching and head-banging. Yet the “Peace Sells” video had political overtones. It featured footage of protestors and police in riot gear; at one point, the camera draws back to reveal a teenager watching “Peace Sells” on MTV. His father enters the room, grabs the remote and exclaims “What is this garbage you’re watching? I want to watch the news.” He changes the channel to footage of U.S. President Ronald Reagan at the 1986 nuclear arms control summit in Reykjavik, Iceland. The son, perturbed, turns to his father, replies “this is the news,” and lips the channel back. Megadeth’s song accelerates, and the video re- turns to riot footage. The song ends by repeatedly asking, “Peace sells, but who’s buying?” It was a prescient question during a 1980s in which Cold War militarism and the nuclear arms race escalated to dangerous new highs.1 In the 1980s, MTV elevated music videos to a new cultural prominence. Of course, most music videos were not political.2 Yet, as “Peace Sells” suggests, dur- ing the 1980s—the decade of Reagan’s “Star Wars” program, the Soviet war in Afghanistan, and a robust nuclear arms race—music videos had the potential to relect political concerns.
