SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR MODERATORS/PRESENTERS DECEMBER 2004

As a moderator or presenter using the Meeting Center, your computer must meet the following requirements (for participant requirements, see page 3):

Browser Microsoft 5.0 or higher OR Netscape Navigator 4.7x and 4.8 (Note: Video is not supported with any Netscape version.) Java, Java script, and session cookies must be enabled. • Microsoft Java Virtual Machine must be present on your computer (build VM2339 or later, except build VM3155). Playing archives on Windows 98 requires Java VM 3805. • Sun Java Virtual Machine version 1.4.2 will be able to use most Meeting Center functions except exporting the whiteboard. However, versions 1.4.2_02, 1.4.2_03, 1.4.2_04, or 1.4.2_05 are recommended because they correct a lot of drawing issues that may exist in older versions. Beta versions of Sun Java Virtual Machine are not supported.

Computer CPU and RAM minimum requirements depend on the operating system used. P400 or equivalent with 32 MB RAM. Requirement increases slightly with number of viewers. P400 with 128 MB RAM is recommended for application sharing.

Controls

ActiveX controls are needed for some advanced moderator functionality, including Application Sharing, Enhanced Publisher, Installer and Uninstaller Controls, Address Book and Calendar Controls, and Follow Me Web Tours.

Audio A telephone (touch-tone telephone may be required).

Video For Broadcasting Video: The Meeting Center supports web cameras through the standard Microsoft Windows interface to web cameras that can use the Microsoft WDM Image Capture (win32) driver. The latest drivers for the camera should be installed.

Note: An ActiveX plug-in installation is required for broadcasting video. Also, the quality of the camera will determine how well your video will appear at the other end. When evaluating camera quality, make sure you test how your image will be displayed to others. Consider how you plan to use your camera and make sure the camera supports the features you want, for example, auto-focus, an ability to pan, tilt and zoom, or a wide-angle lens.

Streaming Media Requirements

Minimum Requirements Software: Basic* Microsoft Media Player *Free download from vendor website

Custom Streaming Software: To utilize a custom stream you may use either: Microsoft Media Server OR RealNetworks Server (Note: If RealNetworks is used for custom streaming, the archiving option will not be available.) Hardware: Industry-standard video camera (video) and the correct drivers for your camera. Industry-standard microphone (audio)

Archive playback requirements Basic* Microsoft Media Player (including version 9). If streaming audio is being used for an archived meeting, ActiveX is required by Player. Note: If Microsoft Media Player 7 is being used as opposed to Microsoft Media Player 9, then a protocol other than HTTP must be allowed in order to view synchronized archives properly. Microsoft Media Server Protocol (MMS) is needed to keep the archive synchronized because TCP or UDP must be allowed. Java VM requirement for Windows NT4.0/2000/XP is VM 2339 or later.
