Prior to her appointment at Columbia, Dean Greenberg-Kobrin was an attorney in the Corporate and Financial Trans - actions groups at Arnold & Porter. She received both her B.A. and her J.D. from Columbia. She was a Bruria Scholar at Midreshet Lindenbaum as well as a Torat Miriam Fellow. Dean Greenberg-Kobrin has written and lectured extensively on a range of issues, including issues related to agunot. She serves on a number of not-for- profit boards, and lives in Riverdale, New York, with her husband, Rabbi Jeffrey Kobrin, and their four children.

Dani opened the StandWithUs office in New York, and served as the East Coast Campus Coordinator for 2 years. Dani now serves as the SWU Campus Director for North America, overseeing all campus related projects. Klein is a graduate of the CUNY Baccalaureate program from Brooklyn College, majoring in Marketing and Sociology. As an undergraduate student, he played an important role on campus leading the school’s pro- Israel advocacy group and sitting on the Hillel board as the Israel chairperson. On the side, Dani has recently created a kosher travel blog called: Yeah at’s Kosher (www.yeahthatskosher.com), which has become successful in only a few short months. In May, Dani was chosen by the Jewish Week as one of their “36 Under 36: e Next Wave of Jewish Innovators.”

He is also a member of the David Project. e David Project (Center for Jewish Leadership (http://www.davidproject.org ) is a Boston based group that is dedicated to educating young people on how to become advocates for Israel. In part funded by Avi Chai, the David Project has instituted its curriculum in over 100 Yeshiva day schools throughout the country, including in our neighborhood, DRS and SKA -HALB. is is part of a larger program (see page 16). e David Project began its work nearly 5 years ago when it was discovered that our graduates, when confronted with anti-Israel sentiment on the college campus, were unable or poorly prepared to defend Israel. e Young Israel of Woodmere Sisterhood and the Jinny and Jerry Pinsky Youth Department are offering a new Bar/Bat Mitzvah workshop. is class will begin in January and will be open to 6th grade girls and 7th grade boys. Workshop sessions will take place monthly and will include two interactive workshops, a chesed project and a day trip exploring Jewish Heritage. Each workshop will feature experiential learning about an important mitzvah. e first boys’ class will be a tzizit workshop pre - sented by Rabbi Billet. In addition to learning about the significance of tzizit, the boys will also create their own pair to keep as a souvenir. e second boys’ work - shop, led by Rabbi Topp, will feature a delicious dinner seudah with an important learning component: a discus - sion about the meaning of and halachot pertaining to brachot and mezumin. e girls’ first workshop will be a Tu B’shvat Seder, led by Rebbetzin Billet. e girls will enjoy the different fruits of Eretz Yisrael while learning about the holiday’s significance. e second workshop will be led by Reb - betzin Topp, who will explore the mitzvot of hafrashat and hadlakat neirot shabbat so that the girls can appreciate both mitzvoth more fully. e series’ next phase will be a chesed project. We hope to have fun while doing a mitzvah by arranging a carnival to raise money for a local charity. We are plan - ning a day trip to the Jewish Museum, to New Square, and a look into the Lubavitch and Satmar communities so the young men and women can explore the different sects of Jewish Heritage. e program culminates with a Kiddush hosted by Rabbi and Rebbetzin Billet. We hope this new workshop will enhance the children’s transition into becoming b’nei and b’not mitzvah.
