Dr Stella Kyriakides Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, European Commission And Dr Thierry Breton Commissioner for Internal Market, European Commission And: Dr Rafael Mariano Grossi IAEA Director Subject: Transport of Radiopharmaceuticals in the European Union Brussels, 22th April 2020 Dear Commissioners, Dear Director during this pandemic period, the outcome of which is unknown, we must continue to ensure that services in the hospitals are provided to patients who require radiopharmaceutical care. Radiopharmaceuticals are drugs that are used for imaging diagnosis and therapy. Radiopharmaceuticals are crucial to provide CT scans for COVID-19 patients (SPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging) as well as for fragile patient populations, such as cancer and cardiac patients. Due to the radioactive part the shelf life is extremely limited and measured in hours and days. Whereas most regular drugs have shelf lives of months or years and can be produced in mass quantities, radiopharmaceuticals are produced in much smaller quantities and have to be produced for delivery just in time. This is often the day after production, and they are given to a patient usually on that day. In case of a imaging procedure, the scan also takes place the same day. This means that in the EU countries in over 90% of cases the time between the patient dose being ordered, produced, shipped and the actual diagnostic or therapeutic test is 24 hours. Furthermore, these short timeframes are extremely important since a radiopharmaceutical that cannot be used on the day of delivery and preparation in the hospital must be discarded. These days, the number of controls at the borders have seriously increased (potentially causing delays) and the administrative demands are sometimes hard to follow and fulfil.

  • Declaration Unfinished Justice: Restitution and Remembrance (Following European Conference on Restorative Justice Brussels, 26Th April 2017)
26th June 2017 Declaration Unfinished Justice: Restitution and Remembrance (Following European Conference on Restorative Justice Brussels, 26th April 2017) Preamble It is now more than seventy years after the Holocaust (Shoah) in which six million Jews – seventy-five percent of the Jewish population of Europe – were murdered. Only a small fraction of private and communal immovable and movable property illegitimately seized from Jewish victims has been returned or compensated to rightful owners, heirs, or to the Jewish people at large. Many Holocaust survivors live in poverty and without adequate social care, and their social welfare needs are expanding rapidly as they age. In light of the above We, members of the European Parliament, affirm the moral responsibility of European Union member states to advance Holocaust-era property restitution. We also declare our enduring commitment to the provision of adequate and immediate social welfare support for Holocaust survivors, the demarcation, protection and preservation of Jewish cemeteries, mass graves and other burial sites, the preservation of Jewish heritage sites, and the promotion of Holocaust education, research and remembrance. We recognize the commitment of the European Parliament to restitution of Holocaust-era assets as called for in previous resolutions of the Parliament and reaffirm past international principles and declarations that reflect a consensus for the restitution of Holocaust-era assets. Considering the urgency of the matter We call upon Member States of the European Union to reaffirm their commitment to resolve remaining issues on restitution and compensation of looted property, in accordance with the principles of the Terezin Declaration on Holocaust Era Assets and Related Issues, and to address the growing social welfare needs of Holocaust survivors.

Commissioner Margrethe Vestager Executive Vice-President Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis Executive Vice-President Commissioner Thierry Breton Bruxelles 10th February 2021 Subject: Letter regarding implementation of communications technology in the EU We, the undersigned Members of the European Parliament from different political groups, share a common concern regarding the politicisation of the deployment of 5G technology across our Union. The European Commission, along with the Member States, has made clear that digitisation is one of the two key pillars on which the post-Covid recovery must be built. The "fifth generation" of telecommunication systems, or 5G, provides the capacities to meet Europe growing connectivity needs, which are the backbone of job creation, economic growth, public services fit for the digital age, and opportunities for all. Among other things, 5G will benefit healthcare by expanding telemedicine. Europe’s rural areas, in particular, are in need of better access to health – and here telemedicine is key. But telemedicine requires a network that can support real-time high-quality video, as it is the case with 5G. With 5G-enabled systems, patients can often get treated sooner, regardless of where they live. But healthcare is not the only sector that will benefit from 5G. Europe’s industry as a whole will benefit, too. Faster, more stable connections can connect teams in multiple locations at once, supporting remote work – which is essential in our fight against Covid-19. At the same time, the possibility to quickly access and share data will help businesses increase growth and savings, while improving customer experience. The Commission has even mentioned that the system will also increase a strong cooperation between member states and the European Union Institutions in matters of cyber security.

  • 1 Mr. Antonio Tajani President of the European Parliament European Parliament 60, Rue Wiertz B-1047 Brussels Brussels, February
Mr. Antonio Tajani President of the European Parliament European Parliament 60, Rue Wiertz B-1047 Brussels Brussels, February 1st 2017 Letter regarding the invitation of Mr. Sydney Knafou, CEO of Casimex to a session with the Delegation for Relations with Israel Dear President Tajani, Dear Antonio, We wish to convey our serious concern with regards the agenda of the forthcoming session of the Delegation for Relations with Israel, on 2 February 2017 and we would kindly request you to intervene urgently. The agenda of the next session of the Delegation for Relations with Israel includes a single substantial item on "The UNSC Resolution 2334 and its implications for EU businesses", in the presence of Mr. Sydney Knafou, CEO, Casimex. The company Casimex, based in France, imports wines from Israeli settlements, including from Gvaot winery, which is based in the settlement of Shilol, in the occupied West Bank, as well as from the Golan Heights winery, which is based in the settlement of Katzrin in the occupied Golan Heights1. Neither the Golan Heights nor the West Bank are part of the Israeli territory, according to international law and as repeatedly stated by the EU Council and Commission2. The NGO Association France Palestine Solidarité (AFPS) has brought to our attention the fact that Casimex mislabels wine from these settlements as “Made in Israel” instead of the required “Made in Israeli settlements”, as witnessed for example at the recent Vinisud wine fair in Montpellier on 29 January (see picture attached). Such mislabelling is in direct contravention with EU and French legislation (notably the EU labelling notice).

  • Forza Italia, La Carfagna Non C'è. a Destra La Sfida Dei Mussolini
