The fish is always dipped in batter, which is a kind of liquid mixture. Batter can be made with water, milk, or eggs and it hardens when it is fried. The fish is usually fried for a few minutes. The chips are made from sliced potatoes. They are usually larger than French fries, and these large slices of potatoes are also fried.
